Re:Substack writers, you need a website on Wednesday July 29, 2026 @07:35AM (#49096092)
Substack fails to deliver the single thing it supposed to do - great reading experience.

The website itself is slow, it cannot render the whole comments section, it constantly nags readers with subscribe forms.

It can not handle single account across my subscriptions.

Its just crap.

Wondering if its possible to backport performance improvements into upstream. Should be a big deal.
Marketing your album is a different kind of work. Thats why labels and whole distribution industry exist in a first place. Bandcamp is not a streaming platform, so you naturally wont get organic listeners here.

Good album, by the way.

Have you managed to setup CI/CD with Nomad? Last time i've checked it was non-trivial task.
Starlink dish does not require "leg" with motors for proper operation.
Starlink is already used for «Nemesis» night bombers as well as «Magura» sea drones.

Most of JetBrains engineers was russians located in st. Petersburg. Since the war started, JetBrains claimed they've relocated all workforce from russia.

There was no JetBrains offices in Ukraine.

Ther is a bunch of wrapping plugins where you can provide your own API key, like proxyAI or Supermaven. Look in the plugins marketplace.
Re:piku: The tiniest PaaS you've ever seen on Sunday June 09, 2024 @05:15PM (#40627685)
You still need to install nginx, php-fpm an configure certs, so php is not that easy unfortunately.
Re:Why so many of us were wrong about missile defense on Tuesday April 16, 2024 @02:52PM (#40055796)
It shot down what is claimed to be "hypersonic" missle by russians. I don't know about "kinzhal" speeds, but the rockets are indeed was shot down a bunch of times. Speaking about "cyrcon" missiles, they do travel at the hypersonic speed but slowing down at the last miles of trajectory and can (and was) shot down too.
What's going up with him? Looks like he shut down his own company Apex (logs aggregator) and stopped doing open source work. His twitter is also somewhat inactive.
Re:The Internet Archive has Lego set instructions on Friday July 07, 2023 @06:02AM (#36629508)
I was dreamed about this set back in mid-90s. Unfortunately my parents wasn't able to afford it, and I only had small and mid sets and not a single "technics" set.

So I was doomed to re-read a paper catalog countless times hoping someday I'll get it.

Re:Lessons Learned from 11 Years of Hosting a SaaS on Thursday June 15, 2023 @06:38PM (#36347707)
The point is you can do it from Heroku UI.
Telegram is a publishing platform. It's a big deal in the post-soviet countries. The "channels" thing is widely used for publishing by media, gov and bloggers. It's more like social network than plain messenger for a long time already.

I did similar rss-like implementation for my own needs because of frustration of reading and experience, also there is a bunch of similar services.

The reason for not using microblogging is engagement. No one will read it and no one comment on it. Telegram had built-in comments for channel post and people actively interacting here.

I'm somewhat popular blogger in my niche and so far telegram is the best channel I have. I repost all stuff to my own site and medium, but it gain a fraction of views and interactions I get on telegram.

It's mentioned in the article

It does work as a browser plugin, but I don't like the UX.
TIL I finally learned the meaning of "fy" prefix.

I love state machines since my CS classes. I've wrote chatbot engine using this pattern; it was big success for my customer.

Those are not shallow blogspam. Those are actually good articles derived from the man experience.
Re:Ask HN: How would you design an alternative Twitter on Tuesday November 01, 2022 @03:14PM (#33426003)
I did it once in my career. We've had one legacy PHP project designed to work for MySQL. I was in charge of bringing it back to live and I decided to host in on Heroku for the sake of simple deployment. While Heroku does have MySQL addons I opted for using Postgres.

So we've just switched underlying connection and fixed a dozen of (mostly reports) places with plain SQL queries with MySQL-specific syntax. ORM library handled rest just perfectly.

Netflix?
Does it have multi-select input like "select2" (https://select2.org/getting-started/basic-usage#multi-select...)? Demo featuring "advanced select" but it doesn't allow to select multiple items.
