Re:OpenCode 2.0 on Thursday October 15, 2026 @12:01AM (#50098981)
From my limited testing, oc2.0 doesn't support sock5 proxy in HTTPS_PROXY, while v1 supports.
Re:Muse Spark 1.3 on Thursday September 03, 2026 @02:04AM (#49546448)
I have opposite result: MS1.2 wrote C code without following original source code writing style, and no descriptive info why writing such code, DS4F or even Mimo seems better to me.
If you're doing AES, switching to ChaCha20 should save you a portion of time.

and opencode giving out unlimited usage for free, and I can happily vibe my stb_avif decoder fork. https://github.com/roytam1/stb_avif/tree/chatgpt
OpenAI should be more transparent to (free) users about Data Analysis quota and Chat with attachment quota.
Off-topic: regarding Windows NT emulation challenge, now IA64 and AXP32/64 target are also somehow filled.

win32 programs in win32s shares same address space.
Most of code are generated by Copilot. But unfortunately it doesn't output good-looking results. I wonder what are missing/wrong?
Re:An Ode to Bzip on Sunday March 15, 2026 @10:38PM (#47394572)
I wonder why people think there is only 1 bzip (which seems to be bzip2), when the original bzip exists: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/125803 and also bzip3: https://github.com/iczelia/bzip3

Re:Win32 is the stable Linux ABI on Wednesday December 31, 2025 @02:25AM (#46442160)
NTDLL APIs are very stable[0] and you can even compile and run x86 programs targeting NT 3.1 Build 340[1] which will still work on win11.

[0] as long as you don't use APIs they decided to add and remove in a very short period (longer read: https://virtuallyfun.com/2009/09/28/microsoft-fortran-powers...)

Re:UTF-8 as told by Rob Pike on Saturday September 20, 2025 @01:03AM (#45310542)
win32s brings codepage to/from widechar APIs and codepage table files (P_*.NLS), and a setting "AnsiCP=" in [NLS] section in win32s.ini.

16bit IE brings its own MSNLS.DLL for handling different codepages to ACP(Active Codepage) in Win3.1x.

and win9x also works mainly in ANSI codepage with some kernel side unicode support.

Re:UTF-8 is a brilliant design on Saturday September 20, 2025 @12:41AM (#45310444)
"what about using VLQ as a Unicode transformation format?"

a rough implementation is not hard. (for writing, my implementation will write BOM in beginning and only do 28bits)

Re:I want an iPhone Mini-sized Android phone (2022) on Friday July 18, 2025 @03:15AM (#44602084)
It looks quite good, but I missed 3.5mm audio jack.
Re:I want an iPhone Mini-sized Android phone (2022) on Wednesday July 16, 2025 @10:10PM (#44589009)
but I missed MicroSD slot. I think my requirement is simple: not too wide (<=70mm), has 3.5mm audio pack, and has MicroSD slot.

and end-up only Sony products comes out. and I sacrificed performance for a shorter phone so I bought Xperia Ace III.

but I don't know when will my ISP shutdown GSM-1800. If this happens I have to buy Xperia 10 series then.

Re:Windows NT for GameCube/Wii on Tuesday March 04, 2025 @08:32PM (#43261607)

Re:Bzip3: A better and stronger spiritual successor to BZip2 on Sunday February 02, 2025 @10:57PM (#42914792)

Re:Building a replacement 386/486 CMOS battery on Monday December 23, 2024 @09:43PM (#42499307)
AA or AAA batteries will leak.
It relies on HX-DOS' Win32 support. But since DOSBox-X emulates hardware, which is still useful when the host doesn't have such hardware.
Re:Windows NT for Power Macintosh on Friday July 12, 2024 @12:28PM (#40947049)
but at least there is VC4 RISC Edition available for PowerPC, you can compile something on it.
Re:Open Sourcing DOS 4 on Thursday April 25, 2024 @09:58PM (#40165156)
