Love this! Was really nice to read all of them

The lack of delete has always annoyed me (and still does). I hate that I have to press fn backspace, or cursor to the end of the word.
Re:As Oceans Warm, Great White Sharks Are Overheating on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @11:45AM (#47850441)
You have articulated my feelings, behavior, and outlook almost exactly. I feel so hopeless every time I read an article like this. I've joined climate activist groups and meetups, and I've donated to orgs and political candidates. But I just feel like there's so much more damage to be done before we get to substantial improvements, it's so disheartening
This is horrible news

I still use Hype Machine! It's definitely fallen off as music blogs faded away, but it's still a great site
Re:GB Renewables Map on Thursday February 05, 2026 @10:54AM (#46901029)
Great work, this is so cool to see!
This is really sad to read. Unfortunate that it will likely keep happening as forests disappear, seas acidify, and climate keeps warming. Very scary.
Am I happy about it? No. But I don't understand the huge backlash in all the comments yesterday. It felt like everyone overreacted. For me, Firefox still checks off the most boxes of what I want in a browser.
This fantastic, thanks for sharing. So happy for you and Billie!

Semi-related: is there a modern equivalent of Notational Velocity? I used to love it. Similar to this app, there was a focus on speed. But Notational Velocity (and NValt) also had great search built-in
Re:Removing Jeff Bezos from My Bed on Friday February 21, 2025 @04:02PM (#43132908)
I also have an eight sleep mattress topper. I was unaware of the privacy issues here, but I feel the same as parent that I won't give it up. Having the ability to always have a cool bed has improved my sleep substantially. And the heating is great when you're sick.

Now if a competitor crops up that has better privacy and a better CEO, I'll swap in a heartbeat.

Note: I don't pay for the subscription, just the mattress topper

Re:Ask HN: Recommendations for a Linux Distro and Laptop? on Saturday February 01, 2025 @04:01PM (#42902277)
I think since Steam has been working so hard on Steam Deck and SteamOS the compatibility has skyrocketed to pretty much parity with Windows

I use Pop!_OS for my gaming rig. Pretty well optimized for gaming and light programming. Been enjoying it
Re:I Ditched the Algorithm for RSS–and You Should Too on Thursday January 16, 2025 @02:36PM (#42729845)
Another happy Inoreader user here!
I'm also feeling quite worried about it. Per your first link, I didn't realize that the compostable alternatives I try to seek out could be just as bad or worse. The article corroborates unfortunately:

>Most of the chemicals leaching from food packaging come from plastics, but not all of them. “Probably the worst one is recycled paper and cardboard,” Muncke said. “And I know that’s a hard one to stomach.” Recycling paper, cardboard or plastic for food packaging leads to nonfood grade inks mixed in next to food, she explained, adding to the chemical risks.

Re:Show HN: Product Hunt for Music on Thursday July 18, 2024 @10:44AM (#40996049)
Hype machine is great, still an active user and supporter!

Great idea. I also see inspiration from Andy Matuschak's notes [0], of which I'm a bit fan
