> Jane Poynter helped design and then lived in a 3-acre dome called Biosphere 2, completely sealed off from the rest of the world, for two years and 20 minutes. Walking back into society was a shock.
>"I run over to say hello to all of these people and reel back," Poynter said in an interview with Bizwomen. "We all stink from all the chemicals we put on our bodies. It wasn't that we didn't have shampoo or toothpaste [in Biosphere 2], but it was all very organic, no perfume, no hairspray. Our noses were hyper-sensitive to it."
Just to clarify, it’s our world she said stinks. I interpreted your comment backwards.
If John Carmack started updating a .plan, people would figure out how to check a .plan.
I read the 'remote' bit to be referring to where you do your course work.
>I like the low prices and the efficiency of the checkout process.
I especially liked standing in line for five extra minutes while the customer in front of me demanded they pay a different (lower) price for their frozen pizzas because, they said, the pizzas were in the wrong spot.
They eventually got the lower price. Woo Aldi.
I hope they're kicking Temple Grandin a percentage. It's hard to shop at their stores without feeling like cattle being moved from one place to another.
(But 15%! What a deal!)
>Useful for testing.
And as a speed hack for Quake 2!
>Sure, mistakes happen, my own PhD contained a major blunder (discovered several years after submission -- at least somebody read it ...), but I'm extremely open about it.
So what was it?
Are you converting "an unfinished never-posted blog post" into "a rambly twitter thread"?
This is how the many trucking companies work. They'll train you for a CDL but require you drive for them for a period (a year?) or pay for the cost of training.
I take it to mean they paused the VM, allowing them to complete the game in sections when they had the time.

Imagining... a human being?
They removed the stump joke from later (CD onward?) editions because it generated too many calls to support about missing disks. Damn shame! :)
I compiled "Chris Nystrom's 'C' port of Mayfield-style StarTrek, 1995" and the only adjustment needed was renaming the getline() function (getline()->xgetline()) to avoid a conflict with stdlib.

>"Elbereth" must now be the only engraved text on a square to function
So... "elberethelberethelberethelbereth" won't work anymore, either.
X, Y, Z, A, B, C:
• hopeless.
• clearly resolved to die.
• likely to be intoxicated and thus more disinhibited.
• willing to carry out actions that might leave them injured or disfigured.
• unconcerned with consequences because of a high risk-taking orientation.
• likely to have a greater capacity to enact lethal self-injury.
It can really help when the letters are handwritten.
>A lot of sites using that technique also let you click an X button or click the darkened non-form area to continue. If that's supported, I always choose it as a tiny protest (in hopes that someone actually profiles how click-outs are happening).
I click the X/non-form area because I'm too lazy to read the text and figure out which of the buttons won't lead me to another form/sign me up/whatever.
If they ever start making that X the "haha, got you" I'll have to start paying more attention. That'll suck.
Good excuse to break out the soldering iron.
>I want to set up a supervised google account for my son for hangouts et al...
Why?
Thanks for contributing!
It's rare that someone contributes without adding anything worth reading. YOU are BETTER. RARE isn't just how you take your eggs.
You're not a hypocrite. You're a trendsetter. It's so lame to discuss famous people's lives. Especially when they aren't SF-famous! You have set the tone for this thread and HN is better for it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
>“I feel sorry,” he says, his breath moist against my neck. “Everyone’s going to hit on her.”
Why didn't hecubus(OP) take the title or headline?
"How the chili pepper got to China" is a relatively small part of the article.
Google for "The Mystery of When to Stop Antidepressants" and click through there. Didn't work for me in 'incognito mode' but it did when running normally. YMMV.
