I don't have a chance to watch the video right now but I'm curious to know when Atlas is launching, if anyone knows the date.
Also, I see from the comments on carsonified that they're going to charge $20 for the IDE. If anyone watches the video, I'd be interested to have that verified.
NYC rocks. It's clean and one of the safest cities in the U.S. these days. Whether you can find a job is another question.
In contrast there is a layer of garbage and grime everywhere in New York City. So much so that after a day of walking around in the summer, you can turn a white handtowel black just by wiping the sweat off your brow...That's because the NYC summer is hot, not because the city is dirty. (Maybe you have oily pores?)
Hopefully this means he'll be funny again.
Ok, point taken, I wasn't aware of the distinction between patents and trademarks.
But my point is, don't you find it at all absurd that Eric Ries is trying to own the term "Lean Startup"? It strikes me as being a little ridiculous.
"
The Lean Startup is a trademark and service mark owned by Eric Ries"
His ideas sounds awfully similar to YCombinator's.
Grounds for a patent dispute?
Does pg really own Lean Startup?
I apologize in advance if this question is intrusive but is there any possibility it could have been an accident?
Sometimes the line can be blurry. Accidental suicides do happen. Especially since there was no note.
I've been futilely reading his recent FriendFeed and Twitter updates for some inkling as to what could have triggered this tragic act.

Not so much as a smidgen of a hint. His comments seemed consistent up until the last with no hint of despair. No wonder this caught people by surprise. It's flabbergasting.
My condolences to everyone close to Dan. Although I didn't know him personally, he seemed like a terrific guy.
What sad news.
I find the color schemes don't translate well to a web design from the format that they present on Kuler. But maybe that's just me.
Despite this, Bitbucket is great. Private repository with a free account option - you don't get that on GitHub.
It figures - I wouldn't expect them to canabalize S3. Thanks for the details though.
$15,000 in revenue in the first month is impressive.Unless they made that up.
However, even if it's a fabricated figure (and I'm not saying that it is), they would not be the first company to lie to the press to generate some hype. I also don't believe it would be against the law, except perhaps if someone were to rely solely upon that information to make a decision about whether to invest in the company.
Can you upload files to SimpleDB and use it as a free alternative to Amazon S3? I imagine not but I'm curious anyway.

Anyone know what are the main features that distinguish Amazon Flexible Payments Service from Paypal Website Payments Standard?I'm looking at both of these options for a payment gateway for an ecommerce site I'm developing.Would appreciate any advice on this decision. My site would have very few monthly sales so I've been looking for gateways that would avoid the need for me to pay monthly fees...
Are you saying her death was tragic because she was a hot young model while he would just be a dead old loser? That's the vibe I'm getting from this thread generally.
Very good point. Rings true for me and my wife, I'm sad to say.
Maybe this is a stupid question but do people switch between vm's a lot?
You are reminded to ship a case of the Sierra Nevada Hefeweitzen to Engine Yard.
I hope your legal team is on standby.
The problem with me is even if start with a 'hell yeah', I usually fade to a 'yeah' by the end of the day and when I wake up the next day it's more like a 'ehh'. My 'hell yeah' reliably always hops to the next thing and follows the same fade-out pattern.
It's actually pretty depressing now that I step back and look at it. Thanks, Derek.
I don't think I could get away with this without people suspecting I was being sarcastic.
Makes it sound like Yoda should have been writing ad copy for Nike. I think a Zen Master might be more likely to put it as:
"Do, or do not. All is Being."
The line between Zen Buddhism and Nihilism is a fine one.
When you're single the incentives for being good at partner dancing are considerably higher than when you're securely in a relationship.
I went the opposite direction - from being a fanatical swing dancer while I was single to being completely uninterested in it after I met my wife. It was purely instrumental, in other words. And I saw the same pattern repeated with the majority of swing dancers both male and female. As soon as they were hooked up, it was see-ya.
Understood. But because the commentary is so poorly written, it would probably make more sense if the conversation from the channel had simply been printed as-is. Hard to believe this was written by someone of note in the programming community.
Do you not see any possible explanation for why a public figure such as Ted Kennedy would have wanted to walk away from the scene of that accident? Isn't it the most human response, to walk away ashamed of what you have done? Don't you think he regretted it, probably for the rest of his life? And now I would ask you, have you ever done anything you didn't intend to that you were ashamed of?

So no life after death would mean low ROI.
What does "better" mean for you (if you don't mind me asking)?
