Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (August 2026)

I think it's more accurate to say "both the hiring process and hiring venues have been enshittified." That said, I've recently entirely given up applying for jobs I see posted on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed etc., in favor of following up on HN Who Is Hiring posts, especially those that end with "drop me an email." I've had several good talks with CEOs, and hiring managers, and several preliminary tech screens. So, there's still signal here.

I made that 25 years ago. I've just downloaded it onto my MacBook Air, changed the shebang to reference /usr/bin/awk, and fired it up ("./walk walk.w p -"); it works as advertised. You can still format the doc with "nroff -ms walk.ms", too.
