I see someone watches "How I Met your Mother"
It shouldn't come as a surprise that every X months there's a new teen thing. IIRC, FormSpring was one such thing that seems to have faded from the zeitgeist. Will be interesting to see which way SnapChat, Yo, etc. go.

Sure - thank-you for asking!
TW provides a stream of unfiltered content focused on the technology vertical, allowing for easy browsing and serendipitous discovery.
TW also automatically tags every story and surfaces "trending" tags to highlight the notable news buried in the stream.
So - the goal is to provide a degree of the "here's what you should know today" view, but still provide a fun to scan, unfiltered view of technology news.
Lots of action today - tags that bubbled up today (July 15, 2014) included...
Net Neutrality http://techwatching.com/tag/neutrality
Yahoo! http://techwatching.com/tag/yahoo
IBM http://techwatching.com/tag/ibm
...and a bunch of others.
Here's the same system doing an automotive vertical:
http://wheelscore.com/System is still under development - big thing outstanding is solving back-button behaviour on the infinite scroll.
I would really value folks feedback re: the "trending tags" and whether this is a valuable means of calling attention to notable news.

Nightmares and sleep paralysis! Wheee!
Advil works better as a sleep aid for me.
Grapesoda, I don't want to hijack this thread, but I want to give you another bookmarking alternative. Take a look at my submissions!
Lets kill two birds with one stone and just land the ISS on the moon. ISS done. Moonbase done.
Are parents in the US obligated to give their children downpayments on houses? Food, shelter, and education is looking after your kids. Giving them cash to buy houses is above and beyond, and I don't think he should have felt morally obligated to do so as your comment implies...
"I don't expect to ever be able to retire unless I get truly wealthy."
Why not?
Ex-pat life sounds good, but is very isolating. Do you want to live your retirement years far away from most everyone you care about and that cares about you?
How about just leading a more moderate lifestyle in the States? Live in a town, not downtown. Keep a single car, and bike a lot. Live in a small house or condo. Etc.
LinkThing is a bookmarking tool for people like myself - who have wide-ranging interests and bookmark a tonne, and are looking for a fast/powerful way to organize. Its not social or "beautiful," but it is effective (IMHO!).
LinkThing is private by default - bookmarks are not shared or public in any way, unless you create a Public Page and share that URL with others.
This is my perpetual side project. The most recent iteration is of the "less is more" variety - I've stripped out a bunch of features that weren't particularly well thought-out, and refocused on the core - tagging, searching, sorting, etc.
Thoughts/comments welcome!
Cheers!

"SteamOS will be available soon as a free download for users" - you can build your own device!
Looks great - works great! Thank-you!
Notes...
To get it over the bootstrap navbar I z-indexed to a million.
The ajax calls on my site seem to happen too fast to invoke. Fast pageloads are the benefit of no traffic!
I'm on a Pentium-powered Dell, and it works great! HyperThreading FTW!
Ballsillie and Lazaridis were the problem. They just sat on their cash cow and milked it. They also apparently didn't have a knack for selecting great managment. I remember in 2010 trying to figure out why BB sold the Curve, Tour, and Bold.
To echo r00fus, Apple's visions are more tangible to the everyday consumer - or at least better elucidated. Apple is the master of "segmentation" - i.e.: identifying a pain point or desired experience, and building it. TouchID, for instance, solves a problem - passwords suck. "Here's a simple, frictionless way around it, that incidentally will be powering all of your apple-conduit payments inside of a year." That's a vision that relatable, easy to understand, etc., compared to something like glass which is much more "out there."
To put it another way, each apple feature is clearly tied to a consumer-relatable use case. Collections of features form pieces of apples vision, rolling up use cases into the "experiences" that they mentioned today.
Huh - I didn't realize the 4S still had the old port. Screen size and peripherals - 4S has to get phased out pretty quickly.
Hmm - I'm not familiar with Beacon, but will take a look.
In my mind, NFC has always sort of felt like a clunky way of imposing a physical constraint on what should be a purely electronic transaction.
You bet -- in time, and depending on the contract, etc.
