Ask HN: Please help me figure out what to do with my website

http://www.cribzy.comI originally intended it to be a web app for real estate professionals to share and discuss photos of real estate. Of the few i showed it to seem turned off by it. And i feel thats largely due to them being too old and out of the technology loop.Could i repurpose the app to give it more appeal to a wider audience? Please help me brainstorm. Thank you!

Show HN: a photo sharing web app for albums

Hi, i recently released my MVP for a new photo sharing web app that is similar to instagram except its web based, no filters, and is primarily for uploading small photo albums (3-7ish photos). The web app streams them in a news feed like format. Fully equipped with commenting, favoriting, and even hashtagging.Right now i have focused it on real estate photos, but see no reason as to why it cant...

Re:Criticue.com - 6 months ago we launched on HN on Wednesday July 03, 2013 @09:10PM (#5988595)
I like it. There are some things that are unclear though. How do I get notified about my review if I never physically sign up for an account? How long does it take for the "moderator" to approve reviews? If the site gets popular this could be quite a pain on you to have to go through each feedback comment and approve or deny them.

I run a similar type of startup (betapunch.com) if you ever want some user testing done for your own website. Best of luck to you!

One more issue I am noticing is that from my "dashboard" page I can't easily see how to review more websites to earn more credits. For that matter I can't see how to do this from anywhere without having to submit my own website again for review...

Show HN: Ask your visitors to test your website

I recently launched a new feature of my startup that allows you to ask your site visitors to record a usability test for your website. You get a couple lines of javascript code that you embed on any page of your site you want the user to begin their test. You can even entice them with a special incentive for giving you their feedback. An example of the widget in action can be seen at...

I wouldn't be surprised at all, but we wanted to take our own stab at it to see how people might respond to it.

Ask HN: Why hasn't Vine built a platform for discovering vines in browser?

I would assume Vine is eventually getting around to building a better web based discovery experience for vines.Currently all they have though is the ability to view 1 vine at a time in browser and that's assuming you have the URL to the vine.So a friend and I decided to build a better viewing and discovery experience of Vines in your browser. We launched http://www.vined.co yesterday and would...

Re:Show HN: Search, View and Share Vines in browser on Thursday February 14, 2013 @02:36PM (#5221580)
Happy valentines day! You can either search a #tag or a twitter @username and it will pull in all the associated vines. Let me know if you have any feedback.

I plan on showing popular search terms and usernames on the homepage.

Remember to click the videos from the search pages if you want to play. Also, if you see another #tag in text beside a video you can click it and it will execute a new search.

Re:Ask HN: A place to get feedback on your website or idea? on Sunday February 10, 2013 @04:33PM (#5198004)
http://betapunch.com gets you one real user to record their experience using and talking about your website.
Re:Ask HN: What should I do with this website? on Saturday February 02, 2013 @03:36PM (#5157239)
Just so you know, the real-time chat usually works. Not sure what is wrong with it now. I will try to get it fixed soon. The idea is that multiple people can easily collaborate about an image in real time.

Ask HN: What should I do with this website?

I have been working on a website with a developer I hired to build http://chatplode.com.My initial vision was to try and mesh imgur and snapchat into a website - but believe I failed pretty miserably with it and don't really have the time to do anything more to it.Should I sell it? Give it to somebody that can devote more time to it? Pull the plug all together?I am honestly considering just...

http://www.chatplode.com - Simple image uploader that allows you to chat with others about your image in real time. Also set a time for the page to self-destruct. Thinking about allowing youtube and vine links to be chatted about too.

It is brutal. It will be fixed soon!
Re:BetaPunch - User Testing For Startups on Wednesday January 09, 2013 @12:51AM (#5030390)
You're absolutely right that the pricing doesn't make a whole lot of sense right now. I am still experimenting with price points. Some of our competitors are charging $39 / test. I plan on increasing the pricing in the near future, so buy up for cheap now while you still can ;-)

As to your second point we need to do a better job of marketing the fact that we do get "average joe's" to review your website. Not everyone that tests websites for us is a usability expert. The only thing I make sure of (before approving a tester) is that they know how to be critical of the website they are reviewing.

Re:BetaPunch - User Testing For Startups on Wednesday January 09, 2013 @12:48AM (#5030382)
You make a lot of really valid points. We allow our testers to summarize their videos with written comments prior to uploading their video. Many of our testers write very thorough critiques to be submitted alongside their videos.

I feel videos are far superior to written feedback because I pay very close attention to what users DON'T do when navigating my website. I think that's just as valuable as watching what they actually do (if not more valuable). And you just can't get that from somebody writing their feedback mostly from memory.

Re:Ask HN: What is your startup? on Saturday January 05, 2013 @11:12PM (#5015253)
http://www.betapunch.com - we offer a free screen recorded user test for your startup. Of course we provide the option to purchase additional tests too. Get feedback in less than 1 hour from signing up.
Re:Show HN: Freemium usability testing for your startup on Sunday November 25, 2012 @12:08PM (#4828570)
All you have to do is set your "Screen Recording Link" to "Disabled" from your control panel page and that will make it so you do not receive a test yet until you are ready. When you are ready to receive feedback, just make it say "enabled."

I already switched it to "disabled" for you when I saw the message you posted in your description.

I guess I have to make this feature on my site more clear.

Re:Show HN: Freemium usability testing for your startup on Sunday November 25, 2012 @12:45AM (#4827425)
You were the 400th startup so we gave you 2 :) It was a promotion I mentioned on twitter - you just happened to be lucky and signed up at the right time.

We do provide you with a direct URL to view your videos so you can share it with whoever you'd like to. I am still working on a solution for our customers to be able to download their videos.

Thanks for trying it out and I am glad you had a positive experience.

Re:Show HN: Freemium usability testing for your startup on Saturday November 24, 2012 @04:57PM (#4826562)
We have just under 400 sites tested and a database of more than 1400 user testers.

Show HN: Freemium usability testing for your startup

I have been fine tuning a competitor to usertesting.com. I am specifically focusing on getting real user feedback for startup's websites.Website owners ask the testers what to focus on and our testers record between 8-15 minutes of feedback while navigating the website.I am crowd sourcing the feedback and delivering the video in as fast as 1-2 hours. I would like to show it to you and see if I...

Ask HN: How do you sell to startups?

Hi HN,I have a service that provides user testing for startups. I have had several customers and relatively ok revenue over the past couple months. Some have even ordered tests as repeat customers. My product has signed up over 1000 testers chomping at the bit to test websites. This is where I am fundamentally different than usertesting(com) because we are crowd sourced user testing. My testers...

Thanks!
Reviews range between 8 - 15 minutes long depending on the complexity of the websites / apps.

I have an email list of close to 1000 people that were interested in being a "early adopter" so I draw testers from that list.

I got some more feedback in regards to pricing and I have raised my price to $15 / test with higher discounts when multiple testers are purchased.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Ask HN: Do you want a more affordable solution for user testing your website?

So I think it's pretty unreasonable that sites like usertesting.com charge $39 / user test. It is pretty expensive particularly if you want to order multiple testers.I wanted to develop a more simple and affordable method for getting your site tested so I created BetaPunch.comMy pricing is currently set at $10 / user test which I have been told by many of my peers is too low for the quality of...
