Currently 2 big issues of openclaw is memory and security. Armin is working on sandboxing primitives which could help a lot.

Your Pi is a piece of art. Thank you for building it. I spend almost 16 hrs a day with it . And there is not a single day I am not awestruck. Big fan!
Re:I’m joining OpenAI on Sunday February 15, 2026 @07:15PM (#47029263)
I really hope Mario and Armin also gets poached

The real gem inside OpenClaw is pi, the agent, created by Mario Zechner. Pi is by far the best agent framework in the world. Most extensible, with the best primitives. .

Armin Ronacher , creator of flask , can go deep and make something like openclaw enterprise ready.

The value of Peter is in connecting the dots, thinking from users perspective, and bringing business perspective

The trio are friends and have together vibecoded vibetunnel.

Sam Altman, if you are reading this , get Mario and Armin today.

Thank you for sharing this. Sorry for a possible noob question. How are embedding generated? Does it use a hosted embedding model? (I was trying to understand how is semantic search implemented)
I couldn't get the search working (there was some cors error) . But what a feat and writeup. Wonder Stuck!
Plus 1 for GCP. Cant wait to try it out.
Asking a question here that I long wanted to ask. Is it possible to have a python handler function that uses duckdb to query a S3 hosted parquet file and that uses pandas for some data manipulation, run as a WASM app? (leveraging all features of duckdb like predicate pushdown etc)
Sorry for asking a possibly noob question. Doesn't firecracker vms requires bare metal instances? And does gcp support provisioning bare metal instances? Or is it that you are able to run firecracker on normal vm instances in gcp ?

IPFS like "coordination free" local S3 replacement! Yes. That is badly needed.
Re:Google Data Studio on Wednesday October 11, 2017 @06:09AM (#15448538)
Sorry for having to say the "cliche" answer "It depends"...But it really "depends"

It depends on the requirements like 1. requirements for having a self host version or acceptance of having cloud offering 2. data connector requirements (not all products will have native connectors to all data sources) 3. data blending requirements (not all products will have data blending capabilities to the same tune) 4. data size requirements (some support data in MBs, some can support data in PB's) 5. Programming knowledge requirements (some may have only non technical users using the product, some may have technical users who need finer control) 6. Visualisation options 7. Various Reproting options (some may have pdf export option, while some others may not have this) ....and the list is really long

There are a large number of parameters in deciding to choose a BI/Reporting solution

One can probably pickup a particular requirement and evaluate the best in class for that requirement. There is no one solution which excels in every single field.

Tableau has been the leader in the market for long.

And the list of offerings is endless From traditional Tableau, Looker, Sisense, Qlikview to modern POwerBi, Domo, Tableau online, Data Studio, Bime analytics

From open source solutions like redash.io, airbnb superset, pendaho, jasperreports to closed source solutions like crystal reports...

From simple tools like cyfe , to extremely complex ones

From generic solutions to industry specific solutions like Baremetrics (For stripe analysis), and my own ReportDash (for marketing reports)

As someone who has been watching Data studio for long, I can vouch that most of the observations here is true.
Re:Google Data Studio on Wednesday October 11, 2017 @02:55AM (#15447759)
I happen to build a competing service.

Yours is a great list. Have saved it instantly! Thank You for that.

Stuff that helped me - Staying near or staying along with your closest ones - Sleep and Exercise - Some ayurvedic pills that is known to relieve stress and help sleep ("Ashwagandha" to be specific. I wont say it is a magic pill, but when I take it , I used to get a deep sleep)

In the place that I live in, Medical Tourism is growing . It is a place named Kerala, the southern most state of India, with high literacy rates, and relatively high human development Index compared to other parts of India. Most health tourists are from middle eastern countries, though.

I wouldn't be surprised if a term like Keral'ed come up in health care sector, like Bangalored in IT.

Courage : The joy of living dangerously - by Rajneesh - for giving that extra push to take risks and live on edge.

It is a highly opinionated work, with full of questionable arguments and logic. And, I am not sure whether it resulted in good or bad, but certainly, it has made an influence.

Technically both company wants to take people from point A to point B. But those points vary widely though.

As someone from India, I have huge respect for Uber. The taxi unions here were looting people. They were quite arrogant. In Bangalore, most auto taxi drivers would happily stay idle for the whole day, and try to make some quick bucks during the rush hours by charging 300% or 400% extra, until Uber came and killed their arrogance.

Uber may not have had the same level of technical innovations as SpaceX. But they do have mammoth execution challenges, to the scale that no company might have had to face so far. For eg, in India, in each of the 29 states , they have to deal with the regulators of each state. In hundreds of cities, they have to deal with the respective taxi unions. Extrapolate it to a global scale , I can't even imagine.

My respects to both Elon and Travis! Both are my heroes.

Re:Reverse-engineering the Starbucks ordering API on Thursday July 13, 2017 @02:41AM (#14759218)
The dominos ordering app in India had a terrible flow a while back. Once the products are added to the cart and proceeded to checkout , the flow was as follows

1. First a payment collection flow is initiated from the browser (asking Credit Card details, pin etc)

2. The payment confirmation comes to the browser

3. The browser then places the order(the pizza information) to another api end point, marking the payment part as 'Paid'

The thing is, one could add as many pizzas to the cart in a different tab, while the original tab proceeds to payment. The end result is, you get to pay only for pizzas that were initially in the cart, but could get any number of pizzas. For literally Rs100 one could order thousands of rupees worth pizza.

I discovered it accidentally and did report to them. Neither did they acknowledge nor did they send me a free pizza :(

They later fixed this, by not allowing to load the cart in a different tab. But there is a high chance that there could be another hack even now. Since I had wowed not to eat junk food anymore, there was not much incentive for me to spend any more time on it.

Just like 'There is no such person as Good CEO', but only 'A Good CEO for a particular company, at a particular point of time', there is no such a person as 'Good Programmer', there is only 'A Good Programmer for a particular job, at a particular point of time'.

Context matters a lot. One does not use an AK-47 to kill a mosquito. It is terrible for that job. But that does not make AK-47 a terrible weapon.

Good at programming competitions does not equal good at any programming job, is a more appropriate sentence.

Re:Your own company? You can do it (2011) on Sunday June 18, 2017 @02:38AM (#14579326)
One thing that I want to remind everyone reading this, including myself is a thought from "Forrest Gump"

"I don't know if we each have a destiny,............or if we're all just floating around......accidental-like on a breeze.........But I think,......maybe it's both" - Do we have defined destiny? or Can we influence the destiny with our actions? The answer is not black and white.

Life is like that, it is part luck and part hard work/smart work. The context, the skill set etc is entirely different for every single individual. So you can't really learn much from patterns.

On an ending note- "- Do you ever dream, Forrest, about who you're gonna be? -Who I'm gonna be?............. Yeah. .................Aren't I going to be me? "

'Are you on an unsustainable path or are you on a sustainable one?' Well, that kept me thinking. Never did I ask this myself. Thank you for that thought.

"If your product is more of a tech side and starts with less than $20-$30 then chances are less people are going to promote that." Why is that ? I didn't really get it.
Re:Ask HN: How did you grow from 100 to 1,000 users? on Saturday April 29, 2017 @07:03PM (#14229246)
How do you track and pay commissions? Any tool recommendations?
Agree. But when you are a startup, working on limited resources, you often worry whether you miss something, whether you are doing something the hard way etc. So it is not exactly 'sad about being not cool', but more like a worry on 'not using something that can apparently increase productivity'
The $50 is for Custom Domain and not SSL. Thanks.
We at http://www.reportdash.com uses Backbone + Backbone Layout Manager + Jade

Every time I see a post like this , I feel sad for being less cool. I try to learn a bit of the mentioned cool framework. Then I realise, how awesome my current set up is.

Re:Front-End Developer Handbook 2017 on Tuesday January 31, 2017 @05:53AM (#13529474)
I am the sole front end developer at ReportDash, an online report and dashboard builder. We use backbone, backbone layout manager & coffee script and never ever once regretted the choice. The code is highly organised, thanks to the structure provided by backbone layout manager, and is pretty much readable and extensible. And not even once I felt limited by the framework.

The code has got quite complex over time, and I strongly suspect I would have gone mad if I had used a different framework. I used to wonder why the hype over react, vue, angular etc.
