Off topic I know but, the BBC has adopted this clickbaity title pattern of “what we know so far about x” for the last year or so and it really jars me. Especially when x is very serious and involves people dying. It’s like an amateur tictoc’er is in charge of headlines at the moment.

The thing is it gets you the wrong answer so fast it’s now the best way to figure out the right requirements.

I’m not sure I agree that the frontier just know the apis right now, in my experience trying this there’s still a lot of faffing around trying to figure out the right parameters happily burning tokens and bloating context. Also the cost effective models to use in production for real agentic enterprise work absolutely still need the extra help and will do for at least the next 6 months.

Yeh it’s the hypocrisy of the people that follow religion but also religion in general requiring you to deeply believe a version of a story, whilst rejecting other religions version of that story. I know “rejecting” is in the realm of fundamentalists, but even moderate believers will trust their version over others when in reality all these stories can be traced back to the exact same source story. I knew this was true for mono-theistic religions, but I’m amazed it can apply even outside of those bounds.

I find it incredible how many people have died in the name of minor variations in their monotheistic beliefs that are all based on the same foundational stories and yet here is a one of those foundational stories that has totally non-theistic source. I struggle with the hypocrisy of religion sometimes.

This is exactly what happened with Brexit. Bunch of people voted to leave the burdensome EU regulation environment, then realised they quite liked workers rights so they don’t get fired in an instant, having food quality standards was actually pretty good to protect us from chickens filled with hormones and they didn’t want a bunch of infrastructure built in their back yard so environmental regulation was also quite useful.

I think honestly they shied away from really clearly saying this was the end until a couple of hours before he died when really I believe it was clear at least a few days out. For some reason through their communication, bouncing between different doctors and clearly some overwhelming emotions on our part, we thought he had a chance of coming back from the brink so made some decisions in his behalf I wish we hadn’t.

I don’t think you have to be a doctor to come to this conclusion. After therapy I realised that the most traumatic thing that took the longest to get over wasn’t watching my Dad die, it was watching him suffer through futile attempts to prolong his life by a few days in intensive care. I wish the doctors had been clearer with us about his chances of survival, I wish we had been brave/knowledgable enough to accept that it was the end and I vow never to put my loves ones through that when my time comes.

Is this really the way we’re wired after thousands of years of evolution? Even the word broadcast implies something very one way. Pre social media it was very normal to “broadcast” by discussing ideas with friends, family and neighbours, face to face in a civil manner. Good ideas gained traction gradually, bad ideas didn’t get traction because the extremists were too far apart. A nice natural protection against extremes.

I am having implement some suggestions from one of these tools on our developer portal right now from a tool marketing has bought to review our presence in model results. What’s more these “results” are presented to me processed by another model in prose. I can’t quite shake the feeling I’m implementing changes suggested by a stochastic model based on a limited set of search’s on other stochastic models. So many layers of probability, how on earth can it be trusted!
