I'd leave Proton and go back if they offered it again. I doubt it'll happen, but you never know, I guess.

Whenever people use unnecessary commas like this, I hear nothing but William Shatner in my mind.

I agreed with you right up until this garbage.

> It of course feels highly coordinated, and those new releases absolutely dominate the social media, when the release/drop happens.

The manufacturers have a review embargo in place, and the "influencers" release their reviews as soon as they're able to. So ya, it's coordinated, but not by some crazy influencer cabal.

Oakdale is more than just a town in Minnesota. It's a first ring suburb of St Paul, the capital of the state. Also, it wasn't limited to Oakdale. It covered a huge swatch of the east metro.

The people involved in that practice should be jailed for murder.

Re:Opengist: Open-source alternative to GitHub Gists on Tuesday April 23, 2024 @09:16PM (#40139335)
I've been hosting an instance of OpenGist for a while now. It's been extremely solid. Kudos to the dev!
Xfinity bumped the lower tier plans earlier in the week or maybe last week. They obviously knew this was coming.
Why May? They were just introduced in September.
Apple does a better job than most at supporting older devices.
I can't decide if I'd be a fool to buy an Apple Watch right now. I'm ready for an upgrade, but I fear what happens long term if hardware changes are necessary.

I run OPNsense, but use UniFi hardware. I rarely ever have to interact with the UniFi software as it's only there to configure the hardware.
> Don’t be embarrassed, the hospital staff do this all the time. They don’t really care about the things you are worried that they might care about.

Facts. My mom was an Endo nurse for 40 years, and it's true that they don't care. That said, the single most important thing you can do is just be a nice person. They see a lot of people at their worst, and a nice, kind person will put a smile on their faces.

Fun Sin City story...

I'm the (formerly) young guy who rented the 550 to the production team for a few days. Pretty fun story to be tied to the movie.

Wouldn't the median be 1? Most folks have 2 legs, but some have 1 or even 0. The median would be 2 if some people had 4 legs.

This person is pretty average over on /r/homelab.
After they disabled port forwarding, I moved to ProtonVPN. They seem like the next best thing, and they continue to state that they have no intention of removing port forwarding (for now, I assume).

Why? As a Minnesotan, the first thing I'm doing is hopping on my boat and heading north to Canada.

Re:Tipping in the United States has gotten out of control on Tuesday June 13, 2023 @01:44PM (#36313820)
Tipping is stupid, and it now exists (in the US) solely to offset shitty wages.

When I waited tables in college, I treated it as compensation for my work above and beyond the status quo. Now it's simply an expectation, regardless of the quality of work or experience.

my company is actively tracking everyone and their attendance, and then displaying metrics on attendance in all hands meetings. it's like high school or something.
