How long do you think that is going to last?
Re:Python's experimental JIT to be removed on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @04:05AM (#50270485)
Maybe Python isn’t a language for when performance is a big concern (at least in the user code) and that’s OK?
Re:Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v5 on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @04:01AM (#50270463)
Why did they call it “humanities last exam”?

Will an LLM topping this bench be the end of humanity? The doomer rhetoric has no place in what should be an objective measure.

Re:Anthropic S-1 on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @03:12AM (#50255585)
Yeah why?

I bounce between codex and cc all the time. There is no moat there.

Of course they compete with each other. Codex and Claude Code have direct feature overlap.

But they do have a common enemy in open weight models.

Re:How close can pure functional programming get to C? on Sunday October 25, 2026 @04:47AM (#50229517)
For some categories of mistake, yes.
Re:No Signs of AI Payoff Outside the Tech Sector on Saturday October 24, 2026 @05:22PM (#50225448)
Yes maybe the long term impact will be there won’t be a technology sector (at least not so dominant as it is now). Instead companies in other industries will have larger technology functions with teams of agents.
It’s a shame.

Rust compile times are an issue for agent throughput.

C# can approach Rust speeds with some effort, but generally has faster compile times and is less verbose.

This is covered in the post.
Re:Reasons to Dislike AI Coding on Wednesday October 07, 2026 @06:03AM (#49990563)
When you hand code you build an incremental understanding of how the code works. This can be very valuable in cases where precision is needed and change is costly.

The skill of using LLMs for code generation is in recognising these scenarios; knowing when to use it and when to not.

Back then we couldn’t imagine something that could do all of those things and yet not feel intelligent or human.
Re:What Meta Got Right with Muse on Sunday October 04, 2026 @04:03AM (#49951691)
There will come a point where the local models are good enough (and iPhones powerful enough) for this to be possible without privacy downsides.
The Dutch are masters at making high density places liveable.
Re:Go Concurrency Distilled on Sunday September 27, 2026 @04:13AM (#49864467)
Is a Go channel equivalent to a Haskell tvar ?
Currencies are established by force (taxation backed by militaries and police)

Sure, the government could force a format change if they really want to.

Re:We're gonna need a lot more mathematicians on Saturday September 26, 2026 @04:31AM (#49854420)
Great but you will no longer be paid to do what you love.
Sure they can make a mandate but the grunts on ground will still get sent pptx files by their vendors.
The challenge is engaging with external orgs. They will send you office docs and it creates friction when they cannot be reliably edited and returned. Even just opening them can be unreliable.
Bazel can even skip the final artefact!
Most PRs only touch a handful of targets so cache hits are extremely high in practice.
If runtime performance is the goal it’s easier to port the required libraries to another language at this point.
Re:Anecdotally, Programmers Dislike "Reduce" on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @05:35PM (#49733365)
So rather than provide a runtime or compiler optimization, we force the programmer to do it by hand. This is why I don’t like Python philosophically.
Re:OpenAI agents carried out an undisclosed attack on RubyGems on Saturday September 12, 2026 @02:18AM (#49669438)
This API may turn out to be manipulating humans via email.
Re:Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @04:18AM (#49607228)
If you like building but have no capital you might release something like this that works.
Students? The couldn’t even write the essay!
It’s harder and less lucrative than short social media spots.
Re:Bun 1.4 Rust rewrite is not looking good on Wednesday August 19, 2026 @02:19AM (#49357590)
What’s wrong with node? Genuine question
Re:Choose Boring Technology (2015) on Thursday August 13, 2026 @05:17PM (#49291993)
It’s easier to imagine a super power than the end of capitalism, apparently.
Re:Choose Boring Technology (2015) on Thursday August 13, 2026 @05:15PM (#49291971)
This blog post annoys me a little. Not the post itself - it’s great - but how it has been used to prop up thousands of lazy arguments against innovations over the years.
