Can you say more about how you plan work as a team? Interested to hear how you keep this fast and productive and avoid getting caught in the weeds of other's opinions.

Hm, that’s an interesting point. Maybe instead of focusing on problems I should practice identifying areas of opportunity.
I guess I feel as though moving beyond my comfort zone may help with both of those things...

I've always wanted to start my own company. It seems as though the prevailing wisdom is to create a product that 'scratches your own itch'. My problem is that I have no itches. My life has always been incredibly privileged. I've grown up in a well-off family, lived overseas and gone to private schools. I graduated high school and went to one of the best universities in the country to study CS. I...

I'm graduating at the end of this year. For the past two years I've been working for a large financial institution. Recently, they've sent me a graduate offer. It's currently the only offer I have, has an above average salary, and in there contract there is no obligation that I work for them for any particular amount of time. The problem is, I didn't love working there. Sure, the work was fine...
These look seriously awesome! Glad to see a company finally making use of iBeacons.

I'm currently studying Computer Science and I work part time as a Web Developer. Something I've been thinking about a lot lately is what things I should be focusing on now to set myself up best for life after I graduate. I always feel like I should be doing more - working on other side projects, etc.So those of HN that have graduated and gone on to various careers - what advice would you give...
Alwas played video games growing up, built my own PC when I was ~11. Played more games and eventually decided it would be fun to try and build my own - somehow this lead me to web development. A good friend in high school and myself started a small web design 'company' doing work for family friends, etc. Made pretty decent money for high schoolers.
Graduated high school - started a CS Major at University. Got accepted into an Incubator with my startup at the end of my first year, worked on that for a while. Startup fizzled out due to a bunch of issues, got a part time job as a web developer/data scientist while I'm studying which also makes me decent money for a Uni student. My contract runs out at the end of the year, so trying to figure out what to do next.
Very cool - I don't really maintain any social media pages, but if I did I can see how this would save a tonne of time. Landing page is simply and easy to understand, nice work.

A real world application of some interesting ML concepts. You can check out the Git repo here: https://github.com/thatjpcsguy/shorts
Very cool looking, would love to use it, but there's two main problems:
1. No free trial, dropping $300 on a javascript plugin that I don't even know works yet is a lot of money.
2. I don't know if the value it offers is THAT much different from other credit card validation tools. If I'm making $50/hr freelancing, that's 6 hours of my time and I could easily customise some other alternative to fit my needs in that time.
I'm one of the other founders on this. We're tracking using mainly google analytics. Would love to take you up on this offer, mainly just to get your ideas on what tools are the best to use for this kind of thing (I've investigated a lot, mixpanel, kissmetrics, etc. and none seem to really do the job). What's the best way to get in touch?
Thanks for the feedback,I'm one of the other founders on this, totally agree with you. Funny you mention it, we're actually in the process of getting a copy writer on board to help with a lot of this stuff. That point about the phone screen is interesting, it seems difficult to convey what the user is missing out on in a single screenshot. Do you have any suggestions for this?
What do you think about changing Navigate Your Career to something else? I'd prefer to understand what to do. Looks good though
A customer is a customer!
The problem is that often, a lot of University students are extremely unaware of how much they spend. I would argue more so than people that are more experienced handling their expenses. The amount of my friends that have said to me 'Man, I have no idea where my money goes, I don't but anything, but it just goes!' is crazy. If I can empower Uni students to make better financial decisions through a better understanding of their expenses.
The market I'd really think that would benefit from this (at least early on) is University students. Obviously, it isn't only limited to this, but in general uni students are generally making smaller purchases relatively often.
I had a few problems with Mint which is why I decided to build this: 1. It wasn't available in my country and 2. I didn't want to connect my bank account, just because I wasn't comfortable with giving them that info. The API key would be awesome, but with banks being such large organisations that deal with so much data I feel like this would be almost impossible to implement with their current systems.
I'm inclined to agree on the freemium thing. I may have an issue though when it comes to getting existing users on the free system to move over to a paid model. Do I grandfather existing users or force them to move?
Yeah I had that idea also - I posted on r/frugal to not much interest! Will definitely be reaching out to some bloggers.
Cheers!Deletion and bug fixes are definitely coming!
Thanks very much! I definitely agree with you. All of this stuff is really easy to add in and will be there in the coming days.
I've added a couple of small screenshots to the home page for the time being! Hopefully that helps a little.
