Anyhow, I guess I meant something that worked pretty much exactly like the pay phone. Something that I can use once and not leave the rest of my money trapped there forever. At least for Skype you have to buy at least $10 worth of credits. How does it work for Google voice? Is it on demand?
Also, something that you didn't have to subscribe to some service so you can use it. I know both Skype and Gmail both have hundreds of millions of users but what if you don't use either one.
Ask HN: Do we still need payphones?
I do have a cellphone (i.e. iPhone) like most people. However, every so often I find myself in a situation where I am unable to use my phone. I tend to forget to charge my phone, or forget the charger somewhere; or, like yesterday, I lent it to one of my co-founders to do testing (and I am working remotely today). Anyhow, when any of these happens I usually am stranded phone-wise, but I still...

Going viral is not random, magic or luck. It's a science.
Who says we are some code away? Stay tuned for the iPhone App blog post :)
I was once talked down to constantly by someone that wasn't my team lead. However, I had to deal with him because my team needed he's team help. Anyhow, I talked to my team lead and manager and let them know what was going on. They knew this guy was out of place but couldn't do much at the time. And from that time forward I just CC my team lead on everything for a while until things calm down.

Ask HN: Will YC accept applications without idea for summer 2013?
The link to apply without idea is disabled. Sorry, we're no longer considering applications for winter 2013. Check back later to apply for summer.
Ask HN: Why would a website have office hours?
So the website to apply for disability from SSA has office hours.http://imgur.com/6VrftmOThis sounds crazy to me (and laughed a lot about it) but I was wondering if there is a legitimate reason to close down a site regularly (other than temporarily for maintenance)?
Anyhow, I agree with having a free version of some sort,e.g. less features. And it would be definitely awesome if this was the equivalent of CyberDuck but for file sharing, in the sense that plugs into dropbox, s3, whatever other file sharing system out there, hosted or self-hosted.
Good stuff.
Where do you usually go in that case (for validated/curated resources)?
(And event on SO these kind of questions get closed down. Some get protected, but is only after they get significant traffic. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1711/what-is-the-single-m...)
If you wanted to learn X, what would be the next kind of answers/sub-topics/topics you would like to get exposed to?
What was your process to figure it out? What did you search for? Where did you search it? Did you ask someone?
2) So a tool/place that takes into consideration what you already know and gives you suggestions on what your next steps should be would help you on your learning process?
What if that resource was somehow validated/curated by people that have used it before? Or was submitted by an expert that topic? Would you be more willing to give that resource a try?
Your sense is correct. But is not around the idea of a search engine. Is about a tool/place that only has good material. Relevant, validated, curated material. Would something like that help you?
Do you feel just as confortable finding the material for a completely new topic as you do for when you are looking for something you know and you are only trying the deepen your knowledge regarding that topic?
