I love Apple Notes, but it lacks many handy features from products like Notion and Obsidian. I'm way too comfortable in the Apple ecosystem so I decided to add some missing features to Notes with an extension called NotesCmdr.NotesCmdr let's you format text with slash commands & markdown, use templates and do math in Apple Notes. To get around the lack of a plugin system, I'm using the macOS...
That's strange, the certificate should be valid (from Let's Encrypt, SHA-256 fingerprint ending in …ccdb4). Could it be an issue with client time settings or an outdated browser cache?
Should be up now (it's a static site behind Cloudflare)
That feature is so well hidden I kind of forgot it exist. I'll check out the selection/transformation stuff!
Ah yes it's limited to single documents.
Using AppleScript/JavaScript to pull multiple notes is a good idea!
Thanks! There's a "Summarize selection" prompt in there, so if you try it with a good model like Mixtral you might already get good results for (1). For (2) I'm guessing you'd want to be able to write a custom prompt?

This lets you talk to local LLMs in Apple Notes. I saw Obsidian Ollama (https://github.com/hinterdupfinger/obsidian-ollama) and thought it was handy, but I'm too lazy to migrate away from the Apple ecosystem, so I quickly hacked this together. I tend to use Notes as a scratchpad for prompts, so it's nice to do some quick inference without leaving the app.Notes doesn't really support plugins so...
That sounds like an awesome app, if you build I'd use it too! :)
I used percentages so the text bar and Send button should fill up the full width on any device. I saw the same thing happen before updating the Kindle version. I wonder if they haven't rolled out the upgrade for Oasis yet.
Agreed, I definitely write shorter questions on my Kindle than in ChatGPT on my laptop
That sounds like a good system.
Yeah I find my phone and laptop quite distracting, so I don't like keeping them around when reading, especially at night.
Another use case I didn't plan for originally but is pretty fun is doing all your Kindle reading in Kindllm by having it write essays on random topics for you.
It's a good idea! Amazon doesn't offer an API for fetching highlights but services like Readwise seem to get around this by using a Chrome extension to do it. Not sure how that could be done on a Kindle though...
Ah I see. Yeah definitely filmed on an iPhone (with a cardboard box and a cutting board as a camera stand)
Haha oops didn't notice that
Fair point, yeah it's definitely still cut down
Is it night shift on mac doing it?
Thanks! Yeah the landing page might need some work
re: Native LLM: The fact that Amazon just upgraded the web browser shows that they at least have some engineers working on Kindles, so one can always hope
Yeah it would be nice if the LLM knew what you're currently reading - tricky to do with a web app though!
Made this to not have to constantly look things up on my phone while reading.
It's pretty handy for generating longer essays to read on the Kindle too.

That's an interesting idea.
