Let's tone down the McCarthyism a bit shall we?
Might want to read the article.
So does this updated firmware remove the backdoor or just re-secure it so it can't be removed?
> nobody is taking them seriously
Because it's 2017 and I'm STILL having to write workarounds for IE.
Racketeering, kidnapping, elder abuse? Yeah.
> Loudermilk said Friday that his bill “is aimed at curbing frivolous class action lawsuits against businesses under the Fair Credit Reporting Act,”
Has this ever even happened?
My city (Louisville) would be a prime candidate due to proximity to UPS WorldPort, and Amazon already has a bunch of facilities here.
That said, screw these guys. I'll make sure to have my voice heard if my city tries to offer them tax rebates to come here. Everyone needs to pay taxes, especially gigantic corporations. I hate that companies like this even have the nerve to expect these sorts of breaks.
Agreed. Also cli apps with Laravel are amazing if you need to schedule jobs.
As bad as these things are, you wouldn't want them to be illegal.
> This is a common misconception among folks who don't cycle. Cyclists are actually safer on the street.
Heard this a thousand times and I don't buy it for a second. The speed differential between cyclists and pedestrians is an order of magnitude different than the speed differential between cyclists and cars. And the argument about driveways and intersections falls 100% flat on it's face if you use the incredibly basic assumption that cyclists should (a) use crosswalks and (b) shoulder check when crossing driveways.
How much content are they auto-completing? Seems like this could easily end up with some other organization's proprietary code auto-filling inside your project. This is very dangerous; it's either only auto-completing single standard-library function names in which case it doesn't need cloud connectvitiy, or it's auto-completing actual code which opens up users to IP issues.
Not a chance. The volatility surrounding this event was at or below the normal levels of BTC volatility.
Agreed, this is a terrifically dumb idea. It's bad enough that you usually lose your healthcare after being let go.
I have been paid to write an algorithm like this. It matched you to relevant content, but then a manually configured weighting table would skew results to more popular sources. It went as far as taking into account the number of leads we had sent each partner that month as a percentage of their quota
Countdown to malware using this feature to prevent removal
A couple thoughts:
- Why did you copy/paste this on the bug tracker (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/base-files/+bug/17...) and find/replace 'Ubuntu Community' with 'HackerNews community'? Doesn't that seem a little bit patronising to both parties
- Why didn't you actually address the issue? You said a lot of words but at no point did you say whether or not you would be removing this "feature" OR keeping it.
It has to make unauthorized connections to pull down ads. No, this is not acceptable.
Yep, forced updates + NSL = they don't need 0days anymore.
Agreed. Seems simple to me; if you stop providing the content those users are coming for, they stop coming. Why is this hard for NYT to understand?
I do this with bash prompt colors on all our servers. Prod is always red.
> It's good that MySQL gets better because I'm tied to it since Sequel Pro is the best database browser there is and it only supports MySQL.
Oh my god this 1000%
I will use the "worse" DB every time if it allows me to be more efficient in my work.
Hulu: "We've seen what the cable companies are doing and it seems to be going poorly for them. So we're going to go ahead and give that a shot"
Gonna get worse once they ban kratom. Brace yourselves.
How'd you know though? I once called a cab company asking for a price quote and they refused.
