No, but if you work at a company where even the janitors get free lunch, you should get free lunch.
I always find the emphasis put on algorithms 99.9% of developers will probably never have to implement after the interview totally astonishing.
I think a far more interesting thing to know would be profits.
Revenue is essentially a vanity measure. A company with $10m in monthly revenues with a 50% profit margin is making the same amount of money as a company with $100m in revenue and a 5% profit margin and I think it's important for the tech community to remember this.
As a current uni student, I have access to both DreamSpark and academic alliance, I probably wouldn't even have windows on my dev computer otherwise, let alone any of the dev tools and the being able to access free quality software from Microsoft really improved my opinion of them and it's important to get that mindshare of new developers if they want to stay such a huge force.
Repeatedly crashes on Windows 7.
You might be, but then, if you're here, you're probably trying to keep your skills up to date, so avoid the problems expressed in the article.

Do you start a startup incubator?
At my university, Software Engineering is a more theoretical course than CS, with no compulsory programming, and indeed no option for programming in year two, except for a Java module in year one, you do have to build a piece of non-trivial software for your final project though.
Do these sales people never actually negotiate or require a longer call than about 30 seconds?
That would be a fairly unusual market.
Also, I'm assuming Groupon's US sales force probably handles all of the international markets too, otherwise enough sales people to call every business in the US would be massive overkill anyway.
I hear this a lot: "learn functional programming", so I did a Haskell module and I still don't understand what all of the fuss is about.
Can you attempt to explain it to me?
Really?
You think £1.30 to get a bus as far as you like is expensive? and £4 to get as many buses as you like in a day is expensive?

Hi,
I'm a CS student who graduates in July, so I'm wondering if any startups are recruiting for then?
My main skill set is Java, with some experience in Haskell, Ruby, C++ and PHP.
Thanks.
Gabriel, do you have any stats on proportion of zero click clicks (so probably page views where they don't click any results + clickthroughs from zeroclicks) vs use of standard search?
Mashing the resources together would surely destroy the speed boost of a CDN?
The offer of a discount to past buyers would certainly make a tempting offer to your email list I imagine.
Send them an email a month after their purchase and offer the complete collection on a discount.
Good luck!
Will you be hiring graduates in the summer?
A subdomain isn't a business model.

I want to start a startup when I graduate from university, with a computer science degree, but I'm concerned taking a non-traditional path may make me less employable if it all goes wrong and I'm forced to take a traditional job. For example, that I'd find it harder to find a job than a new graduate or that after several years working on a product, I might have to take a graduate level job.Is...
It's useless being the market leader if you can't make it profitable.
YouTube, in my opinion, was a big financial mistake, it's never made a profit and was so expensive and has been so unprofitable for so long it's going to take a very long time to make a return on the investment for google.
