I think it might be a FF issue. I had the same issue on FF, but it loaded in Chrome. (also took some time though. 1~min)

EDIT: nevermind, now it also loaded in FF

I actually got your video recommended by Youtube earlier today! Glad my YT algorithm is on point.

But would it be possible to add an RSS feed to your blog please? (https://rootkid.me/works) That way I won't miss any of your future posts.

I need to clean up the projects page though.

Hey, would you please consider adding an RSS feed to your blog? I remember liking your post about Waffle house and now also this one, so I tried to add it to my RSS reader. But unfortunately no feed is available.
Re:Beginner Guide to VPS Hetzner and Coolify on Sunday October 05, 2025 @01:24PM (#45483436)
I tried it a few months back but as soon as you want a project that has multiple containers using compose all sorts of issues start popping up. Like it "forgets" which containers it started and then can't stop them any more or now you have 2 containers of the same service running even though coolify only recognizes one.

I think if you do register each service separately in coolify it runs OKish.

But I've now switched to the same setup as you had and ironically it has been so much simpler to run than coolify.

I'm really happy people are working on projects like coolify, but currently it's far from ready for any serious use (imo).

Hah, someone else trying to find some good movies they haven't watched?

I've also been working on something recently to quickly search in the IMDB datasets. No hosted version yet though.

Mainly also to learn some rust/htmx.

I checked my RSS history because I was thinking the same. (My rss feed only contains posts that get popular on HN, there might be more posts in reality)

Re:Why SQLite Does Not Use Git on Sunday July 23, 2023 @01:07PM (#36837314)
I just checked these commands out to update my git knowledge, but when I saw the following in the docs [1][2] I immediately marked these commands as not (yet) worth it to learn since the way these commands work might change.

THIS COMMAND IS EXPERIMENTAL. THE BEHAVIOR MAY CHANGE.
So that might have something to do with it as well. Especially if there are stable commands that I already know that have the same functionality.

Re:Don't let Reddit kill 3rd party apps on Sunday June 04, 2023 @05:07AM (#36184169)
What you're describing sounds a bit like Lemmy [0]. In essence it's a federated reddit. Anyone can host their own instance with its own rules/topic. And each instance can have communities (subreddits). You can subscribe/comment to any of the other instances' "subreddits" from your own instance.

As a native Dutch speaker who also speaks Norwegian, it's exactly that.
Re:Fireship – Learn to Code Faster on Saturday December 10, 2022 @03:55AM (#33931113)
I discovered Fireship and Jack Herrington[1][2] only last month.

I normally never subscribe to channels on Youtube but these 2 are so good for both getting a clear explanation on what you want to learn and keeping up-to-date with what's to come.

Hey, I think some other stuff might be broken too. When I open this link I get a bunch of errors in the console: https://reallyconfused.co/roadmap/from-c#-to-asp.net-develop...

This was also the first course in the list, so not exactly a good first impression.

The console lists this: https://pastebin.com/KQqjdCc8

Re:Show HN: Free site to learn and try different databases on Thursday September 24, 2020 @12:11AM (#24575170)
It's not that it's a barrier, but it's unclear that you need an account before being able to use the site.

I clicked on the PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch buttons a few times, the page seemed to flash for a second and then... nothing.

But as [lifekaizen explained](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24569307), no signup with then the option to save when signing in would be even better.

Re:Using TypeScript with React on Thursday August 22, 2019 @09:21AM (#20767725)
Note that they said "React + Redux". And that combo indeed takes a lot more time to get set up and understand the first time.

I used this lib to get it to work: https://www.npmjs.com/package/typesafe-actions I wouldn't even know how to get it to work with just the regular react & redux types.

This doesn't seem to do as much as API Platform though?

In API Platform you can just define an entity and it will automatically expose CRUD endpoints for that entity [1].

While in NestJS it seems you still need to define each action manually [2].

It's too bad cause I'm really looking for something like API Platform in Typescript.

Re:Show HN: A LaTeX-based resume building app on Wednesday June 12, 2019 @12:52PM (#20166670)
I used md + pandoc for my resume before as well, but I wanted some more possibilities in changing the layout of the pdf. I remember needing to do some stuff in LaTeX to do that but I don't know that very well.

So I took a different approach with node. I have a yaml file with my cv data [1] in it and I render this in an ejs template to html+css. That html then gets transformed to a pdf. The result can be seen here [2] And the source code here [3]

There seems to be a maximum length on the email address field when registering? (32 characters) My email address is longer than that.

After registering (with a different email :)) the sound didn't seem to work.

Re:The end of India’s ‘IT miracle’? on Thursday June 07, 2018 @03:36AM (#17253984)
I encounter answers now and then by Indian names, and unfortunately my first thought is "can probably skip this one and look at the next answer". The reason is that the answerers _very_ often didn't read the question properly (or misunderstood it) and consequently are giving a completely irrelevant answer.

Re:ClojureScript beginners' home page on Wednesday April 18, 2018 @10:59AM (#16867891)
People in the Clojure community might know that your site is not the official one, but people new to Clojure(script) might not!

I actually thought it was the official website first time I visited the page. (The "Back to official" link is not clear enough)

I agree with the improvements that were suggested. (different logo or putting unofficial in the title)

Re:A Frameless Geodesic Dome (2013) on Tuesday September 05, 2017 @03:25AM (#15173148)
This is Bruce Hauman's dome (creator of the Clojure library Figwheel)

I watched a video of the talk where this dome is mentioned last week.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-kj2qwJa_E&t=9m16s

I was hoping there'd be some more info about the way he lives in general. Seeing from the outside picture he also seems to grow his own food.

> Securely view your upload history without having to create an account (history is stored in your browser's local storage)

How can I view my history? I think I've clicked every link available but I can't find this at all.

I do see some data in my localstorage. I'm not expected to fish it out myself from there am i..?

> You can set an expiry time by pressing the "Options"-button that's next to your uploaded file

Same for this. There is no such option to be found. Screenshot: https://www.NoFile.io/f/FHA0M03bmm0#057e7d69b089e719

Also, I tried downloading my own screenshot but nothing actually happens. (The loader does pop up) Downloading & preview does work for an unencrypted file.
