Re:Show HN: A self-updating list of the most current useragents on Saturday December 17, 2022 @11:20PM (#34035021)
it is so easy to spoof and really does not matter in usage except desktop/mobile. there are so many analytics out side that that it is indeed antiquated.
Re:A Linux Evening on Friday December 16, 2022 @12:30PM (#34017444)
gentoo gets pretty close for a full OS system.
it is probably paranoia but not improbable. they have direct control of these companies and can totally do this. others like the US would have to go less direct routes for these things.
Re:The New Smoking on Monday November 21, 2022 @12:44AM (#33689242)

i think a true exoskeleton is something that accentuates our form to improve how we can physically do something.

i think alien(the movie) has a good image of a exoskeleton basically a fork truck in effect that can move things though.

Re:$ rm Important.txt (uh oh) on Sunday September 18, 2022 @07:43AM (#32886702)
well at least it does not overwrite it it could possibly be recovered. a backup trash folder is a good idea for those things aliases are great for a lot of things including larger scripts that would probably be in a separate file.

shred or similar functions do overwrite files.

Re:Things people blamed on bicycles on Thursday August 25, 2022 @05:13AM (#32591376)

not only interpretations of it but those writing it.

look at archeology and how we interpret those from a those who wrote something down. there is of course other interpretations from other indications of more direct evidence but a lot of times we do not get those in conjunction with written records.

it had another name. evercrack.
