There's literally 100s of apps that provide food delivery service. Just because one is doing really good doesn't make it a monopoly.
Re:DoorDash to Acquire Instacart on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:04PM (#50291254)
How would this be a monopoly?
Re:Character.ai files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday October 13, 2026 @10:14AM (#50072123)
I'm imagining the horrors of character bots themed and named after popular disney characters at the expense of our youth. Dystopian stuff
Re:Socialism's Positive Rating Tops 40% for First Time on Wednesday September 23, 2026 @12:37PM (#49818723)
Socialism means that the government owns the means of production.

Sweden is not socialist, it's capitalist. A large portion of the budget goes to welfare programs, just like the USA.

False positives have a real cost, especially if AI is reading a review. Consider if you have GPT-6 Astra looking at a review and finding a bunch of false positives it burns tokens to figure out.

Remember when the term "AGI" meant something? Pepperidge farm remembers
That repo is so thin, probably just took one prompt.
There was an ad going around for a while on how Instagram was trying to be safer for teens with parent controls, etc.

If I were to guess, he's thinking he can get the good (if there is any good to be found) without the bad still using more controls/technology.

Re:Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @09:59AM (#49434282)
Why would you read the microcode or assembly?
Re:Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance on Monday August 24, 2026 @05:02PM (#49425815)
Forcing friction the way this post describes won't work because the genie is out of the bottle.

A much easier way to force friction is to expect everyone to read the code they are producing. Yes read all of it and understand what it's doing.

A lofty bar sadly.

Maybe the whole windows/linux thing is an apt comparison? Linux is OS and arguably runs the internet yet windows is still a cash cow. The paid-for models are like windows, the OS models are like linux?

Isn't that the documentary that cited a study saying all snow would disappear forever from Earth by the year 2013?
Re:Jobs and Software Is Fucked on Monday June 22, 2026 @04:58PM (#48636088)
Propertly testing and reviewing code is a must with AI, it's actually more important. I don't know why the author feels like it's assumed that this goes out the window with AI
Re:The Flat Curve Society on Friday June 19, 2026 @03:40PM (#48602405)
Am I just a luddite, because this seems really far-fetched to me:

>In reality, behind the scenes, the curve is NOT flattening at all; the exponential growth will continue

every other technical leap hit walls where the exponential growth stopped

Re:A backdoor in a LinkedIn job offer on Monday June 15, 2026 @04:30PM (#48546642)
I really want to know what would've happened with an npm install, I guess something boring like crypto mining or identity theft?
Re:I stopped tracking my time. Now I can't focus on Thursday June 11, 2026 @05:38PM (#48496792)
It's point is highlighting a common issue that is becoming widespread due to AI tool proliferation. I have the same exact issues. I used to love sinking into deep work mode but now that's gone.

I say this as someone who uses AI a lot. Its still a far cry from cheap, especially with that pesky “working” word in there.

You're describing project-level shared resources, there are local versions of that like CLAUDE.local.md which should be gitignored
Does anyone really believe that Slawk is a "replica of approximately 95% of Slack’s core product"??
