Martha Stewart was a billionaire when she went to jail for insider trading.

A far more generous interpretation would be that Wikipedia and the English internet are very far from comprehensive reports on non-English speaking countries. With a little more effort you could have found many more wrongful convictions in France that were even reported on in English ( http://www.medilljusticeproject.org/wrongful-convictions) and if you searched in French I am sure you would find even more.
People who are not incorporated.
You could also void old convictions on these charges. Won't undo the damage but will help.
Actually yes, the law being overturned said it was illegal to sleep in public places anywhere in the city. What kind of limitations on where people can sleep are you imagining?
Re:How to Get Kids to Do Chores: Does the Maya Method Work? on Monday September 03, 2018 @11:37PM (#17906454)
It's totally possible to learn to cook without ever ruining a meal. You start by working under supervision and doing prep tasks - a lot like the hierarchy in a professional kitchen.
In WA at least all traffic offenses are public record. You can go search court databases by either name or license plate to get the full details of any tickets and charges in that system.

If your goal for the sprint is "build widget" then your goal for the day should be "build part 3". You don't change priorities each day, you change how far along you are and where you expect to get to.
Re:And Nobody Noticed It Was a Fake Cake on Wednesday August 01, 2018 @12:14AM (#17659598)
No, that’s absolutely false. It may be common among the upper class, but it is also common among larger families, strongly religious communities and many immigrant cultures, all of which are definitely not upper class signifiers.
Re:Say Hello to Full Employment on Friday July 06, 2018 @03:17PM (#17474313)
Nonsense. It’s a complicated set of information that people try and reduce to a single number. If you want to actually discuss it you need to start by learning that there are multiple official unemployment rates.
Re:Flights to Rome on Wednesday June 27, 2018 @02:50PM (#17410739)
Why? Iceland Air offers some of the cheapest flights across the Atlantic - I've stopped there on my way to Paris several times. And you can take a few days as a stopover for nothing, which is a nice way to arrive at your final destination already unjetlagged.
I literally just explained to you why this is not a question of enforcing the law, it is a choice to behave in an immoral and repugnant fashion that the law does not require. Make an effort to at least pretend you are keeping up with the topic.
Flores does not mandate that

a) every arrival be prosecuted instead of just deported (or even any arrival)

b) Trump end community detention programs for immigrant families, which were very successful and far cheaper than prison under Obama

So no, there are no laws mandating this. People like you are choosing to do it because they think it will deter people from arriving here. That's not a legal mandate, it's a moral choice.

Incorrect in multiple points.

- families presenting themselves at the border are being separated

- the vast majority of families being separated under this policy are first time arrivals, because what Trump has done is order prosecution of ALL arrivals

- international law says you can claim asylum after having arrived without a visa, it does not make you a criminal to do so

- under Obama, families doing so were actually released into community detention and almost universally did show up to their immigration court dates. Trump ended this program, in favor of jailing them all separately. That, just like instructing ICE to arrest and charge first time arrivals, is a policy decision and requires no change in the law for them to go back to the previous system.

(logged out, discovered last pass doesn't have the password for hn: new account to continue) I think you skipped over the comment that I was responding to, which said this: > They want to be named after a geographical region which is way bigger than their borders.

Sounds exactly like the USA at the time of their founding, and is in no way describable as "the opposite".
