Re:A quick and safe way to see if your accounts are compromised. on Wednesday February 27, 2013 @02:09AM (#5291088)
Just enter your email address to see if you're in one of the dumps. You can use usernames too, but there is a much higher chance of a false-positives.

No personal data is stored on the server. Only SHA2 hashes of a unique identifier, such as a username or email address, are used for each compromised account.

No personal data is sent to the server. The website hashes the emails before they are transmitted from your computer, so the server never handles plaintext emails or usernames.

It's only a small side-project that I revisited today because of the http://abc.net.au account dump, but it may be useful for someone.

All feedback is appreciated.

I did a quick experiment to see if I could force-crash safari by exploiting the File:/// issue, and lo and behold it's entirely possible.I simply created a textarea pre-filled with File:///, then with javascript triggered focus, click and blur on the field in that order. It seems Chrome is not affected and I haven't tested any other browsers yet so your mileage may vary.Anyway, not much else to...

Re:Alias.sh: for finding, sharing and storing bash aliases on Monday January 14, 2013 @04:42AM (#5053967)
I agree; that and being able to tag and comment on aliases. Some way of posting alternatives for the same task would be great too.

Thanks, that was sort of what I was getting at. I'm building a browser based synth (not quite ready yet), and these are for it.

This is good news, though I don't see it becoming a standard any time soon without a way of blocking nefarious sites from taking hold of people's pointers. Perhaps a browser warning bar when a site tries to lock the cursor (or does this already happen)?

Another jQuery knob plugin

http://www.domitable.com/static/side-projects/jquery-plugins/knobRot/demo.html

I'm new to this site but a work colleague suggested I should post this here after showing me the other jQuery knob plugin earlier today.knobRot is completely different in its implementation. It uses sprite sheets which can be generated with KnobMan or any other design / animating package. The interaction is click-and-drag based, and can be either horizontal or vertical. It has center detenting...

My jQuery knob plugin called knobRot has relative controls. It uses sprites rather than canvas, and there are a few other issues in the tracker, but you can see a demo here: http://www.domitable.com/static/side-projects/jquery-plugins... and this is the source on GitHub https://github.com/AlexanderParker/knobRot

I also would like to have a way of locking the mouse position, but sadly that would give black hat developers a nice exploit (for harvesting likes etc).
