The window switcher built into my own window manager allows you to filter by all, workspace, display, and substring search over app name and window title

nothing from screen sharing goes off your machine, the only network data from Fazer is trial check and update check
https://fazerwm.app/privacy/I can even explain why screen sharing is required:
if you programmatically move a window so that more than 50% of it overlaps onto an adjacent display the window will be displayed on the adjacent display instead of the desired one, FazerWM uses screen sharing to stream the part that should be visible where you expect it, while the actual window is parked offscreen, also for grabbing thumbnails of windows for Overview and Recent windows features.
I just bumped trial period to 30 days as well.
Thanks! That would be greatly appreciated, if you download and install it you get full features for 14 days and I'll happily extend until there is any form of payment. I'm grappling with price point (and if it's maybe better just to make it donation ware in the age of AI) and having testers be able to give feedback will be very helpful you can either join the Discord or contact me via email in my about text. I'd love to be able to do a video call while you install if that was possible
I’ve been developing FazerWM which is a Mac window manager inspired by Niri, I’m still grappling with if I should make it paid or donation ware, it’s taken over 9 months of development

In 2012 I forked QLColorCode, a Quick Look plugin, to add the Drupal file types I worked with every day at the time. I kept that fork going for about a decade. Apple deprecated the whole .qlgenerator format that used some time ago. On current macOS the old code previewer just doesn't load, and you can't port it either as it colored code by shelling out to external tools, while the modern replacement (Quick Look app extensions) runs in a sandbox that won't let you spawn anything.
So this is a rewrite in Objective-C with its own highlighter using per-language compiled regexes running inside the extension's sandbox, no external processes. A 2 MB Objective-C file highlights in about 140 ms end to end, so space-bar preview still stays snappy.
It covers 51 languages (130+ filetypes) out of the box. Font, themes, line numbers and extension-to-language overrides are configurable in the app, and settings reach the sandboxed extension through a shared defaults domain.
Builds are universal but I've only tested on Apple Silicon, and macOS 12 is the floor. Install is available via Homebrew or direct download.
Development was AI assisted as most are now, I made all the decisions and spent time specifically optimizing for performance. I don't think it's too sloppy, and is working very well for me at least.
I care about privacy, so It doesn't phone home at all, the only stats I get are from Github's download counts.

Ah damn, I meant to put Show HN: in the title, hopefully mods can fix?

The Gamers Nexus video explained that they will connect to nearby open SSID’s to send the data they have collected. So just not connecting it to your network may not be enough.
Have been charging my model 3 from an outlet since 2020, we only need fast charging occasionally when taking a long trip
causes the external display I have plugged into my MBP (clamshell mode) to flicker quite badly
FFS ruining it for ppl that are old enough as well. I really wanted to try this out :/
Access Restricted for Australian Visitors
As of March 16, 2026, Civitai is no longer accessible to users in Australia.
This is due to Australia's Age-Restricted Material Codes, registered under the Online Safety Act and enforced by the eSafety Commissioner. These codes require platforms that host user-generated content — including AI-generated imagery — to implement age verification measures such as facial age estimation, digital identity wallets, or photo identification checks before allowing access to age-restricted material. Simple self-declaration of age is no longer considered sufficient. Non-compliance carries civil penalties of up to AUD $49.5 million per breach.
I've received several of these types of messages including Voice.ai one mentioned in comments, and the following today:

Hey, I found your GitHub profile and thought you might find this useful.
I've been building Omniget, a desktop downloader that works with YouTube, Telegram, Udemy, Hotmart and 1000+ other sites. It's open source and built with Rust and Tauri.
The part I'm most proud of: you don't even need to open the app. Just press a hotkey and it grabs whatever video you're watching.
I've been working on this for a while now, even got an artist to design a mascot. I'm shaping the app based on feedback from people who actually use it, so if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them.
Here's the repo: https://github.com/tonhowtf/omniget
Thanks for your time!

100% It's this that I have the problem with TBH.. not using services per sae
No, it’s that he will spend hours doom scrolling whatever they feed to him.. I’ve tried to lead him down a path of watching more educational stuff on YouTube but he will just end up doom scrolling shorts.. I’m trying to figure out ways to enable him access but not have him waste hours with shorts.. I know there must be short form content that’s good but I’ve not seen any evidence watching over his shoulder.. I block shorts on YouTube for myself even.. at this point the best I can think of is allowing access in short windows of time with longer chunks of blocked access.. if anyone has ideas I’d love to hear them.
All the ban does is stop kids from having accounts, if the service allows anonymous usage then they can still find somewhere to doom scroll. My teen son has been blocked from Snapchat, and was this evening doom scrolling on Tik Tok until I blocked it on our home network.
Grok, wrong.. but at least the two most logical..
Yes, there is a seahorse emoji! It's (U+1F40E U+1F30A). You can use it to represent seahorses or marine life in general.
I’m going to make some assumptions… I expect the account is for history, could you store that in a cookie initially, or local storage, and then invite people to create an account to carry history across different machines after they have watched some content maybe?
App not available in my country (Australia)
I think the issue is that there doesn’t appear to be anything substantially different in the newer patent this YouTube video covers it pretty well

Figured out if I change the font size in browser controls before I create shortcut on home screen then font size remains as set
