If you choose 86 servers, then you need to setup all VMs cluster management, backup, recovery, migration..
Re:Ask HN: What is your password management solution? on Saturday July 15, 2017 @12:38PM (#14777507)
I think they ask your google password once again, when you try to access that functionality, even if you already logged in.
This seems like another PR hype :-)
Overspending is the first class citizen problem, there are many other problems can happened.

And much higher maintenance cost and learning curve.
How are you planning to pay for webscale computational resources?..

But what is the situation in real life? Can I get some feature importance scores say from tensorflow model?
Re:Treaty banning nuclear weapons approved at UN on Sunday July 09, 2017 @11:58AM (#14730340)
It is more about economic power. UN could make Iran to give up on nuclear weapon using economic sanctions, but in this situation cats are much stronger economically.
These are two completely different things: Rutan max weight was 10,000 pounds, and this one is 150 pounds..
And maybe there are is such thing for text processing?..
Curious if anybody proof-read this. Is it really that bad as described?

Re:The Path to Rust on Thursday May 26, 2016 @07:02PM (#11782397)
So, for jvm you create less tasks but with more ram, e.g. 100 tasks 4G RAM each, and problem is solved?
Re:Foxconn replaces '60,000 factory workers with robots' on Wednesday May 25, 2016 @02:10PM (#11771827)
There is a win for Germany: - more opportunities for high skilled robotics engineers, so they can stay at home, and don't move to US - tax income for country, which can be spend wisely.

Unless they sell gadget oversea, like Samsung.
Re:IBM is not doing "cognitive computing" with Watson on Monday May 23, 2016 @01:37PM (#11755408)
Mostly logistic regression, and sometimes deep learning. Both are part of ML.
Re:IBM is not doing "cognitive computing" with Watson on Monday May 23, 2016 @12:52AM (#11751956)
ML as part of AI drives major industries already. Like web search and internet ads.
Name from the article would sound like Maxim Igorovich Popov.
"Maksym Igor Popov" name sounds so fake.

They will want, if it will unlock multi-billion market opportunities. It happened multiple times already, e.g. algo trading robots replaced some human traders.

Re:Tech layoffs more than double in Bay Area on Friday May 13, 2016 @01:30PM (#11691808)
If worker is good, and have enough cognitive power to learn all that algorithms and solve problems, he can land in Google/FB and enjoy life and safety.
Re:New US Army Tech Instantly Destroys Enemy Fire on Thursday May 12, 2016 @01:28PM (#11685191)
Success is a combination of idea and right implementation. Maybe T-90 suffers from problems with second.

Judges don't do any deep analysis on million small claims, and can be replaced by automated rules.
They can drop JDAMs, small diameter bombs from 30 miles away and turn back. You are probably saying about Close Air Support role. It can be fulfilled by high precision weapons, which can be applied from many miles distance, but also Air Force consider replacement for A-10 for this role, which will not be F-35. And some other cases of CAS can be covered by apaches and drones.
> he F-35 is a 1.5 Trillion black hole; a stark lesson on the sunk cost fallacy. The F-22 exists, and works.

You compare fleet of 3k aircraft + operation costs for 80 years with fleet of 180 F-22 jets. Also F-22 can't fly from aircraft and amphibious assault ships, and do most of the ground attack missions.

Maybe thinking about your kids future is your thing.
These types of debates are going for few decades already. 1,3trln is joint air-force budget for next 80 years (since F-35 is intended to cover 90% of all air-force/navy/marines air tasks), includes not only 2500 highly sophisticated vehicles them-self, but maintenance, and probably training and weapons, and covers 50% of national security problems in modern world. I think 1.3trln is moderate price for that.
So, what is your proposal exactly? Cut this program, and make army weaker, while others(Russia, China, isis, whatever) gain military weight?
And Paid clicks on Google websites 38 %

It would be interesting to see how many of them are working on brand new code, and how many support legacy systems implemented by others.
