Thanks really cool. How amazing the mind is, like it has the function of resuming the dream from where it was left.

WILD can be quite hard to achieve, I think. Doing MILD with dream journal works for me very well if I give it a bit time (not on the first night after a pause.)

This reminds me E. S. Fein's comment when someone asked him "Is reality disappointing now?"

"Not in the slightest. Reality still carries with it the endless enigma of unknowing. When I dream, I know I'm in dream. I know it is just a simulation created by my mind. But reality? I have no idea what reality -- waking life -- actually is. I have nothing to compare it to except for dreams, which stem from waking life. I love my reality, but I have also worked hard to build a reality I am very fond of."

There are different techniques to trigger LD, like Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreaming (MILD) but I think we need something else to make it more mainstream.

Yes! Control is the issue for many and also the level of awareness?
Re:Ask HN: Do you practice lucid dreaming? on Saturday February 22, 2025 @10:54AM (#43140052)
Are you happy that it comes naturally for you or is it a burden? Can you get a full rest?
Re:Ask HN: Do you practice lucid dreaming? on Saturday February 22, 2025 @10:53AM (#43140041)
I think it is getting more popular.

Yes, the problem is getting there but with practice it’s doable for everyone.

Have you seen Prophetic AI? VC funded startup building a headset for inducing LD-s.

Ask HN: Do you practice lucid dreaming?

Hey!I know this is a question we're not usually discussing here on HN but I'm sure some of you have at least once in their life experienced lucid dreaming if not practicing regularly.Would be fun to hear about your experiences. I'm not actively practicing now but should pick it up again (it was a lot of fun). What I always emphasise when talking about LD's this: it's REAL. It's a full virtual...

Re:Show HN: I built a simple personal finance tool on Wednesday February 12, 2025 @01:45PM (#43028373)
Thanks for your feedback! Technically it's very simple. Used Laravel and some html+css. Lots to improve but does the job.
Re:Show HN: I built a simple personal finance tool on Wednesday February 12, 2025 @11:50AM (#43027133)
Over Christmas, I built a simple tool to track my income and expenses. I don’t need anything elaborate, and it suits my own needs well.

One side effect – I’ve learned – of seeing your income on colorful charts somehow wants to make it move UP by reducing expenses and finding additional income.

What would you add/remove? Maybe AI expense analysis based on uploaded bank statement?

Hi HN!

A lot of us developers have websites. Why not add a "Hire Me" button for potential clients? Maybe we can make some extra money like this or even in time make it as our full-time freelance business.

I don't think I like Upwork (low prices?), TopTal (too exclusive?) or Contra (too many features?)

I just need a super simple site to list my skills and past projects. Maybe, and only maybe, there could also be some helpful tools, like an option to book a consultation call with me for a price.

It’s currently very simple on purpose and I’m choosing new features very slowly. Next up: - See how many times your profile is visited - Allow creating fixed price projects

Would be fun to hear what you think?

Exactly what I had in mind. Thank you.

Very cool! Looking forward to your next posts! (subscribed to your newsletter)

Would be fun to read about the process of building and selling it!

Ask HN: Blogs of developers building startups solo?

I love reading about the life of developers who are building startups solo. No team. No funding. Just developers earning money by building products.Yongfook has a team now. Pieter Levels is mostly tweeting but I'm more interested in longer blog posts.I love Herman's blog: https://herman.bearblog.devDo you know anything similar to Herman's blog?

Re:The future of work is 4 days on Tuesday April 11, 2023 @05:30AM (#35522757)
Maybe not only tech companies but knowledge workers in general?
Re:Show HN: 4-day week tech companies on Tuesday April 11, 2023 @01:32AM (#35521210)
5-day weeks are just a habit of history! People are talking increasingly more about mental health, avoiding burnout, and work-life balance. Remote work was a niche thing in tech for quite some time until COVID acted as a catalyst.

But we never wanted just to work from anywhere. It was always about a more flexible lifestyle. And 4-day weeks could be the next important step. The tech sector will be probably leading the way, just as it did with remote work.

Would be interesting to hear what you think about 4-day week trend?
