Claude used some self-written scripts to drive the Beekeeper Studio desktop app and capture features in-use. It really was a very quick and I'd never have recorded this myself.

Claude made me upgrade to a team subscription, now it sucks

Until recently I could buy my engineers gift subs for Max subscriptions.Now I have to use a team plan, but the team plan limits are terrible! 6x pro vs 20x pro with the old Max plan.I'm paying them less money and they're driving me to a competitor. I don't get why this decision happened tbh.Anyone else experience this?

Yes, I use DO with Hatchbox. It is a perfect combo. Been using for more and more projects.

Hatchbox + Digital Ocean is an unbeatable combo and provides Railway-like automation with self-owned infra.

That'd be cool! Or maybe just going to any train/bus station gives you the timetables for all of them, so you don't have to add another thing.

Def ran into issues on my second play - there were no trains from Waterloo, nor any boats from Plymouth or Portsmouth.

Shows a lot of promise. Can't wait for it to improve some of the core systems just a little, will be very addictive.

Some other features I'd love to see: - Ability to check transit timetables without going there - Metros / Tubes / Subways for in-city transit

Hit a wall going to Plymouth when I should have gone to Portsmouth, but had no way to check which one had the ferry I needed.

So cool! Couple of minor bugs - I can click banks / hotels and use them without being near them, also many hotels in ex Paris do not show up as usable, neither does the Paris metro. Still, super fun to play.
Thanks for answering questions!

Do you think H1B visa holders looking to move to a Green Card (in coordination with their employer) should be concerned about rejected applications or other issues?

Available now in Beekeeper Studio, would love community feedback! Been using it today...man it's crazy good.
Thanks for doing an AMA!

Should folks on H1B visas who have an ongoing green card application via PERM be concerned at all?

Would you advise not traveling until the i-495 is filed?

Hey! This is awesome! Great job :-)

I make Beekeeper Studio, another open source db tool (although v different), we started charging for a pro version 2 years ago. Would be cool to connect! I can tell you what we did and what did and didn't work - Matthew (at) beekeeperstudio (dot) io

Ask HN: Is all feature development R&D now?

In the US, given that the R&D expense amortization requirement has not been clawed back, are you all treating feature development as an R&D expense?I've been advised that any feature development is R&D, even if it's not technically novel.This doesn't line up with my internal view of what R&D is, but curious if this is how everyone else is dealing with it?

Beekeeper Studio - open source database management app - https://beekeeperstudio.io - https://github.com/beekeeper-studio/beekeeper-studio

I need remote part/full time folks to help with the following:

============

Marketing / Growth

Write blog posts, email sequences, landing pages, ads, videos, etc. Must be comfortable with Markdown and HTML/CSS. Goal: Help increase signups & conversions, reduce churn.

============

Support & QA

Test the application, respond to customer requests, help triage GitHub. Write automated tests. Opportunities to do other stuff like coding / marketing if interested. Goal: Help our releases be rock-solid.

============

Location preference: Global! If you're in Latin America I can pay well and that's perfect for timezone overlap.

Ping me: matthew [at] beekeeperstudio.io

2048 is fantastic, and going full time on your project is a huge milestone. Congrats!
Hey! I run Beekeeper Studio.

Here's why I price like I do:

I can't keep the lights on with one time payments, period. I just don't make enough money.

However as a consumer I prefer them.

My compromise is a subscription that provides a permanent benefit after 1 year. Access to any version of the app released in your subscription period. Forever.

I think it's really fair, and when I made the change I saw an immediate uptick in sales.

Renewal is still opt out though. Defaults matter.

Automatic like for including Beekeeper Studio :-D.

Do you think this would work as a bug reporting solution for a desktop app using electron?

I make beekeeper Studio and struggle with bug reports being very vague

Signed up for Beekeeper Studio, no idea how well it performs for a desktop app written with electron and vue.js, but we'll see!

First two code reviews show no feedback.
