I'm helping educators so they can offer home based camp experiences to kids. Ages 4-9 right now. https://www.kidshomecamp.com/

Additional plans include:

- home work help, maybe even proper homeschooling classes;

- setups for public school teachers to run their classes (I hear the current experience leaves a lot to be desired).

If someone has public school teacher contacts interested in experimenting with delivery, I'd love to talk to them.

Baby tracking apps to scratch my own itch, so to speak: Poopendar, Boobendar, Napendar All on the Apple App Store.

About $15 a month from 3 iOS baby tracking apps. Built to scratch my own itch, so to speak :)

Here's one, and the side bar lists the others.

To me it seems that NLP is the follow up to ML. I'm taking ML like you and NLP seemed to address the next question: how do you deal with text based data.

If you switch to DDG but still wonder what G might have shown as a result, here's a little extension for Chrome that will show G's results (disclaimer: I'm the author). http://raivoratsep.com/177/duckduckgo-transition-assistant/
Re:Ask HN: My side project. Is it useful? on Wednesday September 14, 2011 @11:55AM (#2996704)
Looks really good for alpha. I like the simple layout. Being able to visualize the location I'm going from and to and the nearby airports is pretty neat. I haven't seen the competition but this is something I'd use when I travel.

MVP at http://www.exercisesatwork.com/ Get an exercise that you can do at work mailed to you Mon-Fri.
I use the App Engine's Mail API to send the emails.

Eventually there will be a relevant and non-obtrusive text(?) based ad in the email.

There already is a Like link there...but that needs a little tinkering to get it to behave like I envisioned. Will need to add +1 since that's getting popular. Another one I've been contemplating is to add Twitter link as well.

I think your idea of turning this into a game like experience is brilliant. One thing I've noticed with emails of this nature is that after a while you start to ignore them. Letting readers keep score of the reps/tasks completed would hopefully entice them to keep opening the emails and, more importantly, keep them exercising.

And thanks for signing up!

Thanks for taking the time to give me feedback - really appreciate it! These are all great points that I will try to utilize.

If you don't mind, could you reply to those emails please - that will send them to my inbox, will need to take a look.

I suspect there's an issue either with the MapReduce library processing your email more than one time or there's something with App Engine's email service (Mail API).

Joe and olegious thanks for the feedback - good points!

I will add the sample email, and a paragraph about why you should sign up.

To quickly answer it here, you should sign up because an email will serve as a reminder for you to exercise.

Now, I'm not sure how to explain (and be believed) that I won't spam you?

Yeah, that's what I did initially with my "daily exercise you can do at work email" site.

I decided to spend a minimum amount of time on it to just test it out: just a form and a little description. The only decoration was that the text was centered and navy :)

Results: only 4 sign ups over 3 months..mostly from friends and family.

Then I made a nicer design, added content, and voila got about 30 sign ups in about 1 month through google search results. Added benefit is that now I'm not embarrassed to promote the site which of course has yielded many more sign ups.

To sum up: an effort invested in design pays off since good looks provide a hint of legitimacy. Generally speaking :)

http://www.exercisesatwork.com/I evolved this service over several months and since June it's in a state where I can show it to the public. The service is built on Google App Engine - an interesting experience on how the restrictions of the platform make you focus on the scalability of your app.Edit: wanted to add details as this might be interesting to HN.The challenge was to be able to get the...
