From my N=1 experience, it has not helped me.
Maybe bear.app or Ulyss. I use bear.app and really like it.

It is important to understand "worked better". In practice, I would trade off using simpler methods for few points increase in precision/recall/your choice of metric.
Not clear what the product really is. How are they getting Instagram data for the users?

This story was written in 2010 about an incident that happened in 2004.
Is there a good resource to help understand how to read/interpret SEC filings?

Re:Why old-school PostgreSQL is so hip again on Monday December 11, 2017 @12:33PM (#15898602)
Have you tried pycharm? It offers some nice things like auto-complete over SQL as well as your table schema.
Re:Show HN: Moocha.io – A search engine for MOOCs on Wednesday September 27, 2017 @09:14AM (#15347435)
You might want to check out https://www.class-central.com which offers search as well as reviews.
Have you tried using Nextdoor?
As others have said here, you really need to understand the needs of your users and build accordingly. Also, do not get bogged down by technology, start with shared google sheets/forms if that gets your work done while still meeting the needs of your users.
Do you know for a fact that Twitter monetizes using "reputation management systems"? I am just suggesting keeping an open mind.
Do not ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity or in this case probably engineering oversight. No affiliation or affection to twitter.
This looks interesting. Would love to try it out..requested an invite.
Are you referring to developing a windows standalone application in C#?
Re:Ask HN: Good MOOCs to fill in self-education? on Friday June 24, 2016 @02:39PM (#11972301)
Another interesting resource for you to compare MOOC is class-central (not affiliated in any way).
Re:Ask HN: Are you a programmer with Parkinson's? on Friday May 27, 2016 @12:23PM (#11787031)
There are nuero rehab practices and physical therapists who specialized in this area. I would start by having a conversation with one of these folks.
Re:Ask HN: Would you pay to find a co-founder? on Thursday May 26, 2016 @01:24PM (#11779782)
I would but how you you structure this is something you think about. What value addition would you provide on top of LinkedIn ? Some things to think about but can see a use for such a service.
"The problem that some patients do not have tests performed when they genuinely need them is also real but probably of lesser magnitude." Anecdotally speaking, I have seen many instances when testing was procrastinated only to reveal a chronic condition (hypothyroidism, pre-diabetic sugar levels) needing immediate attention sometimes with medications.

I am genetically disposed to hyperlipidemia and like to watch my cholesterol level as a tangible indicator/reward for my life style changes.

"Better financing and organization of health care and, perhaps, reduction of the profit margin could markedly decrease testing cost, even if very old (but appropriately validated) diagnostic technologies are used."

Reduced pricing was a hype created by Theranos. When we started working in this area, we found that if one is willing to pay out of pocket some labs will offer pricing very close to Theranos.

Re:Ask HN: Django vs. AnglularJS for an ECommerce Website on Thursday May 19, 2016 @11:49AM (#11731103)
I am not sure what you mean by "Uber for Food". Does it mean that you will allow local neighborhood folks to make and deliver food locally? Depending on where you are launching, you are already looking at bunch of regulatory issue. Add to that operations, sales plus infinite other minutiae. Three months is really not that long and your focus should be on getting to market, getting some traction and validating your business model. Groupon started as a wordpress site...
Re:Ask HN: Django vs. AnglularJS for an ECommerce Website on Thursday May 19, 2016 @01:43AM (#11728251)
Do you have to support legacy systems? If not, then do whatever takes you to the market fastest and helps you make progress with you current skill set. If you have used Django then go for it, Flask is another python based web framework which I like. Have you consider other leveraging other options like WooCommerce, Magento, Shopify ? You should able to find lot of themes online (mobile optimized) which will help you focus on your product.
Re:Theranos Voids Two Years of Edison Blood-Test Results on Thursday May 19, 2016 @01:29AM (#11728208)
I was extremely optimistic for Theranos and having to see them go through this is sad on so many levels. Not calibrating standard testing machinery correctly just does not cut it.

One of their notable contributions is to set precedence in Arizona where consumers can now order their own tests without doctor's orders.

I believe consumer awareness of state-of-art diagnostic resting and making testing readily accessible can have a fundamental impact on people's wellness.

ps: I am not advocating more testing.

I have been thinking about the need for this for quite some time. Is this still idea under consideration or are you launching?
I have been meaning to look into this area for a while so pleasant surprise to see this on HN. I don't have particular insight on this particular topic but I am working on startup to improve wellness and reducing friction to access of care. Feel free to shoot me an email ([email protected]) if you are interested in this area as well.
