Who actually wants this garbage?
I don't go to any of those personally
I'll never tip on those things if it's not your typical tipped position, like a bartender, waitress, etc. Pay your employees.
You don't understand? Seriously? The terrible policies that are broadcasted everywhere online, through both text and video, isn't enough to understand?
Yet, they still choose to work under him. I go by actions of people to get their real beliefs.
I much prefer the Twitter of today. Since I'm a grown adult, I can handle some mean words being seen by my eyes, and just ignoring what I don't like. It's nice seeing a balance of both sides of an argument now, rather than only seeing the left biased information.
It's called fraud. That word used to mean something.
Exactly. At the startup I work for, we built from the old methods of bare metal, and integrate cloud services as needed. At any time though, if we are not satisfied with sed service, we're able to jump ship without headache pretty easily. As simple as spinning up a new container cluster elsewhere, migrating data, and ramping down the old. The founders were very clear on never being entrenched into a singular provider.

Ask HN: Anyone else notice how useless Google Maps reviews have become?

I'm a "local guide" with their reviewing system, and it seems they have shadow-banned nearly 90% of legitimate reviews I've left over the years. It's quite alarming, because it seems any business can just flag a negative review now, and have it taken down to boost their overall rating, while obviously allowing companies to have 1 review accounts leave a fake 5-star rating. It has completely...

Step foot into Miami or LA and you'll see the gaudy extremes of wealth accumulation. I live in Fort Lauderdale for a long time, and it blew me away how miserable a vast majority of the wealthy truly were. Meeting a lot of them in my younger 20's, believing they must be "living the dream", only to later find out it was a facade most of the time, completely changed my mind on "getting rich". Living modestly with no attachment to material things is the way to be.

Can probably try playing around with cubic-bezier, but not too sure.
Because they can't fight back... the rich have the means to just make it disappear.
How would you enforce them?

Are you implying the police are active in California? Isn't theft insane there right now because of the lack of policing?
I was going to ask, why aren't they running the code through unit tests if they're committing such shit code? Does it pass the tests, or is it just inefficient code?

Except that a lot of these companies have multi-billion dollar valuations currently...

Because dogs tend to at least shit in the grass. A drug addict, will just pop a squat anywhere.
Re:More Teens Who Use Marijuana Are Suffering from Psychosis on Wednesday January 10, 2024 @11:56PM (#38947814)
I can't smoke marijuana. I've tried multiple times, and it just makes my anxiety spike and I start to panic out of the blue. Even if it starts off decent, some random act will set it off, like laughing too much.

I literally live in Miami. I deal with it everyday.

I honestly wouldn't walk around in most U.S. cities, with all the street violence and homelessness plaguing the nation. Drug needles everywhere, trash, human feces. Why take the risk?
Re:Amazon's Twitch to Cut 500 Employees, About 35% of Staff on Wednesday January 10, 2024 @04:33PM (#38943527)
It's just a matter of numbers and timing. There's just so many more eyeballs on the web now, and with so much more bandwidth than ever before.
Re:Netflix never used its $1M algorithm (2012) on Wednesday January 10, 2024 @04:30PM (#38943468)
It would actually be slightly useful, if you could actually see the thumbs up/down ratio, but they pulled a Youtube.

All the top talent they've acquired and money spent still can't save them from their complete garbage lineup of content they push out, all while limiting account access and raising prices.

Don't quit, let them fire you, so you get all the benefits.

This happened to me in my early twenties. I'd have some symptoms, look them up, and it always led to either cancer or aneurysm. It actually made me a hypochondriac for years, and I had to just stop.
I completely forgot about that show. That's wild.
Re:Rabbit: LLM-First Mobile Phone on Wednesday January 10, 2024 @03:39PM (#38942752)
We have definitely not peaked yet... I expect so much more crap, the likes of which shitcoins have never seen.
My ex-girlfriend used to do this back in our teens, and I used to think she was crazy... until I started to do it. Blew my mind.
Hot take, but I'll bet this will become more epidemic as companies hire more for quotas rather than merit like they used to.
