Re:World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency on Tuesday November 05, 2019 @02:01PM (#21455487)
Articles about Climate Change seem to get very few comments on Hacker News. I think nearly every other article on the home page right now has more comments including an articles about building a flying taxi (47 comments).

Honest Question: Why is there seemingly such little interest in what very well could be a huge threat to the survival of humanity?

I asked a similar question here - and it got 0 comments! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21027145

Applying the worst global warming impact (20% of GDP), the median person would still be 290% richer than the average person today.

This is an absolutely stunning claim to make. It assume growth can just continue in perpetuity forever as if no external factors (food shortages, refugee emergencies, climate wars and economic devastation, air pollution, global pandemics, extreme weather events, ocean rise etc) could possibly have any impact on that continued growth.

Ask HN: Average Startup per Diem Rate?

We have a 10 person startup including 3 sales agents who travel a fair amount within their local region. While on business trips a fair amount is being expensed: meals, drinks, snacks, newspapers. How should a startup calculate a reasonable per diem rate for sales associates? Is is typical to expense every single purchase while traveling for work?
