A subset of "Interactive Fiction".

The latest in language: http://inform7.com/

"Inform is a design system for interactive fiction based on natural language. It is a radical reinvention of the way interactive fiction is designed, guided by contemporary work in semantics and by the practical experience of some of the world's best-known writers of IF."

Re:Manifold Garden (Escheresque Puzzle Game) Teaser on Sunday August 06, 2017 @09:59AM (#14941349)
"Inception like" gravity inside rooms - switching gravity between different walls to move puzzle elements around + taking advantage of wraparound to move between levels on the map (the "outside")

Lots of printing companies undermine privacy by including serial number tracking dots.

Re:Updates to our Google Voice apps on Monday January 23, 2017 @10:04PM (#13468483)
Bug: (where do I report this?) Number A, Number B. A receives text. "B" is set as my default but I see A's message in my inbox. I reply. The reply is sent from "B".
So if you don't update, then you can still hold them accountable? Do you know of people who are watching (maybe you didn't update?)
Re:Welcome to the World of Software Defined Radio on Monday December 05, 2016 @10:43AM (#13106088)
So are you referring to American arrests? Because you make it sound like the Brazillians don't get arrested.

A reply comment says that truckers are using it - what's their legal status?

Re:How Eve unifies your entire programming stack on Tuesday November 22, 2016 @01:05AM (#13011978)
I'm impressed with the abstractions! What are recommended "Learn Eve" tutorials?
Connection refused (USA)
In previous years I've seen a lot of AI tech for action-games -- not neccessiarly FPS but shooter in a flat world with obstacles. Eg. marking objects for cover, marking positions to defend from etc.

Doesn't quite apply to a mario style game

humans have tried this -- 6 pooling to grandmasters: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-strategy/283755-grandmas...
I thought units attacked instantneously, there was end-lag but no startup?
Hi I want to point out that a while back "Barack Obama" created a github account.. press releases went out "Obama learns to code" ... but then the github account went down and was replaced by a similarly named one like presidentobama_bot or something like that. Sorry I don't remember the exact string but it was odd.
Re:Wikileaks: Julian Assange's internet access 'cut' on Tuesday October 18, 2016 @02:59PM (#12737581)
Are those the only choices? Or could the nation undergo a transformation about how money & politics are entwined and rethink the presidential elections?
Re:Really Bad Chess makes chess fun even if you’re really bad on Thursday October 13, 2016 @04:52PM (#12703935)
Kung Fu Chess was fantastic! If you're looking for a modern strategy game, Check out Arimma - designed to be difficult for computers, easy for humans
Maybe you would say that most webapps, no matter the complexity of business logic are "not hard", but I've seen TDD work quite well and practiced by senior (10+ years) programmers to great success.

Your second paragraph... that does not apply to grocery stores here in the US.

They fill the center with junk and the fresh food, eggs & milk along the sides. Often eggs & milk (commonly used together) are on OPPOSITE halves of the store!

Re:Apple Is Said to Be Working on an iPhone Even It Can’t Hack on Wednesday February 24, 2016 @07:16PM (#11171373)
I upvoted because I think you are absolutely correct. Better security could be had with a two-factor system -- plug the phone into a cryptobox to decrypt. Having everything in one place is vulnerable.
Can someone explain how these "Zero Knowledge Proofs" are "untraceable"?
Why do you say it makes you "powerless"? If you can buy goods with it, that's power.
Re:Stack Overflow to require attribution for code samples on Friday January 15, 2016 @08:48AM (#10909243)
Seriously? Who's coding that doesn't know about SO?

I've done this occasionally (link to the SO post) on tricky code, but I'm not going to paste a link everytime I grab some code from SO.

What if I just rewrote, anyways?

This is unenforceable and therefore, pointless.

I talked with a Chinese person who told me why. His explanation:

Falun Gong exercises (Tai-Chi like) improved the health of their practicioners. The communist party supported Falun Gong practice because it lowered their healthcare costs.

Until there were more members of Falun Gong than Communist party officials. So the latter began hunting the former.

Some Chinese fled China, and that's how the West know about Falun Gong.

Very sad state of affairs.

Well, that's what happen when you use Facebook..
" and the always-active Slack room for the community is packed with about 1,200 users on their 41 channels, each of which is a topic-specific, skype-like chat room."

Chat rooms are skype-like now?

I suppose if you're talking about closed source.. :)

Re:Microsoft reveals details of Windows 10 usage tracking on Friday January 08, 2016 @08:17AM (#10864606)
Your options for "send details to M$oft" are "Basic, Enhanced or Full (Recommended)." Enhanced is selected by default. How thoughtful of them.

No explanation. This is hostile computing.

Don't forget about the teenager who was charged simultaneously with being a producer & victim of child porn due to hostile courts Virginia, I believe. An 18 & 17 year old (or close to it) couple texting each other.

Which is a reminder to us all that the Certificate "Authority" system is broken..
Where do I sign up for these North Korean press releases?
Re:Show HN: ZapBear on Sunday August 09, 2015 @04:27PM (#10031456)
Simple reaction game. Inspired by the Thunder Plane sequence in a Final Fantasy game. Screen flashes, tap to dodge lightning.
