Re:People who use Notion to plan their whole lives on Monday May 01, 2023 @09:39AM (#35772619)
For me, the key factor for switching from Notion to Obsidian, was its slowness with pages containing a lot of code blocks (e.g. Python). Some pages were even completely crashing the Notion mobile app.
Re:Ask HN: Anyone highlight text as they read? on Sunday April 17, 2022 @05:35PM (#31064699)
I do it, but only for annotating text, and then recalling it (sometimes by tags) on my Hypothesis profile: https://hypothes.is/users/pyxelr

I'm sharing my ultimate set of VS Code settings, extensions, keyboard shortcuts and different tips & tricks. Since I frequently shared this setup with my friends and co-workers, I believe that you may want to have a read.
Here is my detailed blog post on the use of Anki, with the links to recommended plugins, decks and more. It also explains how do I apply it to studying new languages or even programming.

Next time you can try looking it up in the browser inspector. Use RMB + "Inspect" on the font of interest, and you will find it in the "font-family" attribute.
Re:Ask HN: How Do You Read? on Friday September 06, 2019 @02:56PM (#20898678)
Non-fiction is what I mainly consume nowadays on my Kindle Oasis 3. I try to buy the books directly from Amazon, as then all my highlights sync to my Goodreads account so that even other users can view them.

In the case when the book is side-loaded, I load the highlights using clippings [1] service. The habit of taking notes significantly increases the consumption time, but in the end, I remember much more.

When the book isn't highly technical, such as biographies or self-development books, I tend to listen to the audiobooks with an Android app [2].

Re:To Change Habits, Try Replacement Instead on Tuesday March 27, 2018 @09:29PM (#16694415)
I can profoundly relate to it myself as by moving alone for studies to a university in a completely different country, a lot of things changed in my life. It is not only that you replace many of the troublesome habits, but also you are making yourself busy familiarising with a new environment. It is like with every other change, which causes us to go out from the comfort zone, however, in the end, we are satisfied with the changes we agreed to.
