It's parody.
Re:Microsoft BitNet: 100B Param 1-Bit model for local CPUs on Wednesday March 11, 2026 @02:42PM (#47339501)
There's obviously an xkcd about this: https://xkcd.com/810/
Re:How problematic is resampling audio from 44.1 to 48 kHz? on Monday January 12, 2026 @06:33PM (#46595629)
Yeah, but that noise keeps compounding every time you resample.
Re:Size of Life on Wednesday December 10, 2025 @02:18PM (#46222227)
Are you sure about that? for me it just leads to neal.fun, which is a well loved by HN list of projects, but no IQ test nor begging for money.
Re:Why Toyota Runs a Car-Hacking Event (2024) on Saturday October 04, 2025 @08:01AM (#45472694)
What's your source? it's the 5th in this ranking I found: https://autovista24.autovistagroup.com/news/europes-best-sel...
Does this matter? I want to watch the games at home, with my friends.
Re:Burrito Now, Pay Later on Sunday May 11, 2025 @04:54PM (#43957079)
Absolutely unhinged content from someone who needs to touch grass. Payday loans are scams that prey on the poorest, most uneducated people. This industry is actively harmful to society. But hey, I'm sure writing this helps you sleep at night.
Re:I Analyzed Chord Progressions in 680k Songs on Friday April 18, 2025 @03:14PM (#43731060)
You've never played with a pen, finger or spoon hitting different plates and vases on your table and amusing yourself with the drumming? Twanged a ruler on the edge of your desk? Congratulations, that makes you a musician.
Yeah that turns the cable into a 5kW space heater.
Re:The Nightmare Bicycle on Wednesday March 05, 2025 @03:50AM (#43264410)
No, the author is advocating for the simple two dial (power and time) microwaves, which give you all the control at the cost of having to understand how it works.

The author is saying that in the effort to "simplify" stuff, microwaves now add a potato button and a chicken button, but then you want to cook an eggplant and don't know how.

Re:Is the Sun Conscious? [pdf] on Friday March 29, 2024 @04:46AM (#39861874)
It's protecting us from advanced alien invasions, and doing a great job. Have you seen any recently?
Re:Riot Games laying off 11% on Tuesday January 23, 2024 @04:06AM (#39101119)
I vilify capitalism because it makes kids work in coal mines. Is that unjustified?
Re:Spain lives in flats: why we have built our cities vertically on Wednesday November 08, 2023 @03:33PM (#38196542)
Lots of deserts and mountains in Spain, while the Netherlands is mostly flat and it's a bunch of small villages that are really close together.
Re:“perpetual motion” device is clever [video] on Thursday September 14, 2023 @03:03PM (#37513298)
Lost it at the "through the magic of buying two of them" bit!
The Fourier transform is almost, but not quite it's own inverse when dealing with reals, so they'd be very similar to the results here.
Re:“Click to subscribe, call to cancel” is illegal, FTC says on Wednesday November 17, 2021 @04:26AM (#29250706)
the NYT is not a small startup.
If you turn what now is barren land or grasslands into a forest, it absorbs CO2 as it grows, and that CO2 stays captured for as long as that land is a forest, it doesn't matter if individual trees die and decompose.
If the future is autonomous drones killing kids in Pakistan, I don't want to go there.
Re:How I Taught My Kid to Read on Tuesday July 09, 2019 @06:51AM (#20390534)
Yes, there are variations on sounds, but none of the through/enough bullshit english has.
Re:Relearning Matrices as Linear Functions on Tuesday April 23, 2019 @04:07PM (#19732326)
A reflection is just a scaling with a negative factor.
Doesn't it emit the tone through the TV while your phone listens?
Re:How to tell a raven from a crow (2012) on Sunday April 14, 2019 @10:17AM (#19659547)
That's the joke.
Re:How to separate your data from your code on Tuesday April 02, 2019 @06:32PM (#19559229)
I'd propose reading data from stdin. Seeing this is about python, one could even consider using fileinput [0] to manage multiple files.

[0]: https://docs.python.org/3/library/fileinput.html

I don't see these other people as fellow developers, but as golf-playing executives or their children. I'm aware that not everyone here is a dev, but we mostly have similar careers.
Re:Ghost Villages for Sale in Spain on Sunday March 31, 2019 @03:50AM (#19534413)
A store is one of the "amenities" I'd provide. But you're right about the hospital and education part. I'd probably have a daycare, but anything higher gets harder to do. In any case, it'd be a temporary thing for digital nomads
Re:Ghost Villages for Sale in Spain on Saturday March 30, 2019 @04:54PM (#19531775)
I've been thinking that if I suddenly had a large sum of money, I'd buy one of these villages, renovate it, add amenities and proper internet, and then rent the individual homes to people that work remote, or set it up as a kind of co-living and co-working space, like a company town.
Re:Types Are Moving to the Right on Sunday March 17, 2019 @06:22AM (#19413263)
Most of the ambiguity would be solved if you wrote an ast tree directly, like in scratch (or even lisp).
Re:Bullshit Jobs on Wednesday February 06, 2019 @11:22AM (#19096455)
A hundred years ago, we didn't have many of these jobs, but people managed to live. We've automated most of the actual production jobs, but instead of having more free time, we have telemarketers, and everyone still works 40 hrs/week minimum.
