Ah my question was answered more or less. They're an edge case which makes sense: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35048318
Growing pains are never fun. It doesn't mention (at least that I read) if they're using HashiCorp Open Source or Enterprise. Open Source is great and I owe my career to it but they might be hitting the scale when the Enterprise features and support start to be worth the price.

I've only used Fly.io for a personal app but I think it's a great option so I hope they keep growing.

The configuration management tool mitamae is another mruby project: https://github.com/itamae-kitchen/mitamae

Re:Running GitHub on Rails 6.0 on Tuesday September 10, 2019 @10:51AM (#20928856)
Agreed, any application regardless of language or framework can age poorly. I've seen some pretty solid "long running" Rails applications that were just maintained well.

Not sure what microservice architecture has to do with it. You can have microservices that are Rails apps. :)

Their private encrypted git repos and file storage is pretty solid.

Re:Ask HN: Favorite note-taking software? on Sunday July 15, 2018 @07:41AM (#17534804)
Microsoft OneNote for some stuff.

Mostly Quiver (or Boostnote) with the files backed up to a remote git repo. Added benefit of being a format that is not locked in and can be parsed out later if required.

Re:Interrobang on Wednesday July 11, 2018 @08:20AM (#17506272)
I’ve done the same thing! It’s awesome.
Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (June 2018) on Friday June 01, 2018 @02:20PM (#17208401)
I have the same question but just to know what a "Blockchain Engineer" does.
Re:Using a logbook to improve your programming on Friday November 24, 2017 @07:47AM (#15770770)
I’ve been exploring keeping a logbook for awhile. Some apps I recommend: Quiver, Boostnote, and jrnl.sh

All of them have open data formats so you’re not locked in and can save everything in git which are requirements for me.

Re:Simple note taking from the command line on Monday October 02, 2017 @01:18PM (#15385774)
Yes! Jrnl is awesome and I've been using it for awhile now. Highly recommend it.
Are there any good options for cloud services outside of the US?
Re:Atlassian acquires Trello for $425M on Monday January 09, 2017 @10:35AM (#13357030)
That's interesting. I've used both and would rather use JIRA over FogBugz any day.
Re:Worried About the Privacy of Your Messages? Download Signal on Thursday December 08, 2016 @12:53PM (#13132336)
Yeah thought of that. Made sure it was on the latest version and rebooted. Still didn't work.

No device management policy. :/
Re:Worried About the Privacy of Your Messages? Download Signal on Thursday December 08, 2016 @11:35AM (#13131500)
I found a weird issue on a friends phone when I suggested they download it for iOS. It says "This item is no longer available". They were able to download other apps from the store. When emailing Signal support they said nothing was wrong on their end.

Still havent figured out why my friend cant download Signal from Apple App Store.

This is sad to hear. It was a really cool product.
Re:Google Cloud is 50% cheaper than AWS on Saturday November 19, 2016 @06:34PM (#12996351)
We've actually had good luck with AWS Support and have a dedicated representative that is always there to push urgent issues through support.
Ha, I wish I could up vote you twice.
Re:.NET on Linux – bye, Windows 10 on Monday October 17, 2016 @07:16AM (#12724042)
I agree but I'm mildly surprised when an upgrading OSX or Linux instead of a fresh install always works fine.
Re:Ask HN: What do you use for Log Management? on Tuesday October 11, 2016 @06:32AM (#12683014)
Used Papertrail at a previous company and it was great.

Using Graylog at my current job and it's working well so far.

Re:Decommissioning Otto on Saturday August 20, 2016 @12:30AM (#12325217)
Yes!

TerraForm has been huge for us. Packer has been great. We plan on rolling out Vault fully and consul to our entire infrastructure.

The tools I listed above are essential along with Chef, ansible, and git are essential for our tools stack.

Re:Managing Apt Repos in S3 Using Lambda on Sunday August 07, 2016 @11:32AM (#12242331)
This is an awesome write up.
Re:Ask HN: Best monitoring system? on Friday July 22, 2016 @03:21PM (#12146057)
Agree with this.

If you have money and no time: DataDog

If you don't mind putting in a little time: Sensu

Sensu is straightforward to deploy if you use Chef/Ansible/Puppet. It also supports running Nagios plugins which is pretty useful.

And Jrnl which is one I use on a daily basis. http://jrnl.sh
Re:Why You Should Try tmux Instead of screen on Sunday July 03, 2016 @09:50AM (#12026040)
There's also tmate which makes it easy to share a tmux session over ssh.

Not sure if there is something similar for screen.
