I think the strategy is more to prevent competitors from monetizing

“The cinnamon can be eaten, and so it gets cut down; the lacquer tree can be used, and so it gets hacked apart. All men know the use of the useful, but nobody knows the use of the useless!” — ZhuangzI
Just confirmed with Verizon
Information is being selectively withheld to manipulate public opinion, and legacy media outlets are cooperating because that’s what they exist to do - amplify on demand.

After the recent Project Veritas videos on Directed Evolution, it seems like that’s the actual goal
Re:TikTok Spied on Forbes Journalists on Friday December 23, 2022 @01:04AM (#34102749)
What’s the worst case? That China subtly influences the American youth to be less supportive of Washington’s wars? Because TikTok has tons of ‘ex’ CIA and FBI manning the Trust and Safety Dept just like the other socials
Which precedent? The one where the 14th Amendment forbids racial discrimination, or the narrow carve out 20 years ago that has allowed it to continue in higher education?

I suspect the real purpose of the Poseidon nuke torpedo is to avoid the difficulties of detecting subs by over-pressuring an enormous area all at once, like fishing with dynamite

Putting your info in seems like a good way to get squatted.
Re:FTC to crack down on companies taking advantage of gig workers on Saturday September 17, 2022 @01:55PM (#32879634)
Factually incorrect. Obama was elected in 2008 with a supermajority in Congress and mandate to fix healthcare. He made it worse.

Californias State Assembly has tried to get UHC, it was blocked by Newsom. If it cannot be done in California then it’s clear the Democrats aren’t going to fix it and have no political solution.

> He was hired by Jack Dorsey, and felt accountable to him and to the board, but he reported to Agrawal, who believed that Mudge had a responsibility to follow the chain of command very rigidly.

With $10mm cash bonuses on the table it’s extremely obvious why Agrawal would insist on being MITM

On the topic of PFAS, I’ve used a https://www.berkeyfilters.com/ for 10+ years and they filter out PFOS PFAS etc
> As porn star Cherie DeVille explains, the story is, and has been, a lot weirder than that. Because Visa and Mastercard hold effective duopoly status all over the world — controlling 98% of credit transactions in the U.K., 80% in the E.U., and over 70% in the U.S. — no porn performer can afford to cross the rules for acceptable content the two companies have laid down. And those rules are beyond strange.

“Women are allowed to squirt, but we’re not allowed to urinate,” DeVille says. “We can’t insert our panties into our vaginas anymore, because that’s an object. I tried to use a carrot-shaped dildo. That’s a problem because that’s an object, too, but a phallic-shaped dildo is apparently okay.” She shakes her head in amazement. “The rules are completely nonsensical.”

Cool, I’m into cheap auditable hardware! This could maybe turn out like when they discovered Linksys was breaking the GPL which ended up opening up an entire class of hardware to hack on.

Im pretty sure it’s indisputable that we _are_ all constantly being spied upon and tracked, both by multiple nation-states as well as a ton of private companies. Believing there is an undiscovered backdoor is absolutely a reasonable position to take.

No, with copyright law you get ownership, the nft is just a public receipt
UCHealth’s app does this, and clearly knowingly because it’s spelled out in the Privacy Policy page
