Haha, I had no idea this existed.
"The Kampfanzugskode isn't working well." - "Why can't we use KI to improve it? I've heard from Hans that this Klaus Kode is good at Programmierung." - "We can only use Mistral because of Regulierungen." - "Let's open source it then, so others can use Klaus Kode." - "Ja! This is indeed a legit Schlupfloch and a fantastische Idee!"
Re:Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3 on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @10:59AM (#49713584)
I've been using it for local development for a while now. My goal was to replace MinIO, which I could run and configure with a single Docker command. VersityGW works just as well for that.

You're right! I've changed the title from the previous "Herdr now connects to remote servers".

This and high resolution displays, for me at least.
What is submarine marketing? Asking as a non-native English speaker.

Check out drawmote from the same author, where this library is being used.

I'm struggling to find any meaningful takeaway here. This post has zero value.

NordVPN, they're the most aggressive.

This model is a applied in aviation safety. Mentour Pilot[0] is referecing it from time to time in his videos, mostly when existing systems and/or procedures fail to prevent accidents from happening.

The version history of the kik package[0] is odd. It has been replaced with a security holding package nine years ago[1].

There's a Swiss equivalent of it mimicking tram boards:

I remember being blown away by the dancing bear from Lionhead Studios[1]. It was promotional material for their video game Black & White.

There's a YouTube channel[1] explaining the difference between North American cities and European ones. As a resident of Amsterdam he covers this city a lot.

I'm from Zurich, Switzerland. I don't own a car because everything I need is either in walking/cycling distance or reachable by public transport. While I've been well aware of the car dependency situation in North America, watching a few episodes from the mentioned YouTube channel, made me realize that this is a self-inflicted problem because of car centric zoning and development rules. The often cited "greater distances" are in fact the result of these, not the cause.

Roko's Basilisk.
One of my teachers told us to make sure we’re getting a good amount of sleep two nights before an important event (exam, job interview, competition, you name it). One can easily cope with a single sleepless night, but not with two in a row.

UTM runs GUI apps, while Orbstack doesn’t. It‘s kind of like VirtualBox vs. Docker Desktop.

Geo-Cosmos at the Miraikan[1] museum in Tokyo comes to mind.

Absolutely stunning.

Whenever I‘m trying a different font, it doesn’t last for long. Not only does Iosevka support all kind of variations (as in: there’s a style for everyone), it‘s also very narrow. I always find it odd when looking at different fonts taking up 1.5 times the horizontal space, especially in terminals.

I‘m using a mixture of SS10 and SS05.

Doesn’t sound great. It‘s also an industry plagued by legacy systems.
Re:Setting the clock ahead to see what breaks on Tuesday January 24, 2023 @05:00AM (#34501720)
This is not only a bold claim, but utterly wrong. Every single datetime you’re storing should absolutely contain a timezone, preferably UTC.

I‘ve been bitten by dates lacking timezones in various situations during my career and it has always been a pain in the ass to debug and resolve all those random problems they‘re causing.

Do. Save. Dates. Containing. Timezones.
