Ask HN: Testing Code Changes Against Production

I’m currently reaching out here to see if anybody has any advice on testing code prior to pushing to production. I write unit / integration tests to make sure code is as correct as possible, but I don’t have any way of actually testing it against real, production traffic to know for sure.Writing a unit / integration test for every potential edge case doesn’t seem scalable - wondering if there’s...

Re:Show HN: Headlights.io - A Different way to Lease Transfer on Tuesday February 04, 2020 @04:45PM (#22241347)
My partner and I started this project after I had a really bad experience trying to get out of an existing car lease. I either had to cough up the remaining lease amount up front, which was thousands of dollars I couldn't afford, or try to trade it. The two main competitors in the trading space required an upfront payment just to list my vehicle, with no guarantees of a take-over. We're hoping to help people in similar situations with a leased car, or have people take over leases instead of getting a new one to avoid a similar situation.

Working on a free lease trading website. Tried SwapALease/LeaseTrader but the fees were WAY too expensive for just posting. Going with a freemium model with posting being free and additional ID/verification checks charging money.

The idea is that you match with each other based on whether or not you like the other...

Ask HN: Company asks to BYOD. Is it a red flag?

I recently got hired at an early stage YC startup. I was told to bring my own device for development. I haven't been able to find good information for this on Reddit/HN so wanted to make a post about it.I was wondering if asking employees to bring their own devices was considered a red flag? It seems strange because they are already paying such a high salary that it doesn't make sense that...
