> When storing passkeys in a password manager like Bitwardenor KeePassXC, you end up fighting the platform
I must say it's pretty amazing how well-integrated is Bitwarden with iOS now, passkeys, password generation, everything. I have disabled Apple passwords manager, and Bitwarden feels like the native solution.
There have been some contributions accepted recently for the PowerPC port, so maybe it will happen! There is a working AI-driven derivative distribution as well.

You can host an alternative repo, with the packaging system it has it's as easy as on any run-of-the-mill Linux distro. The easiest way is just to store your recipes in a repo (I do that:
https://github.com/przemub/haikuports-nonfree) but a binary repo can also be easily hosted. In the hybrid architecture Haiku kernel has, drivers can also be loaded at run time. I think it's a good idea, much better than shoehorning into the main repo.
While people have varying stances, I understand the policy at least for the main Haiku repo code. Allowing AI-written contributions means you will get code that neither the contributor nor the teammembers fully understand, and asking questions about the wider context becomes futile. It would require a lot of distrust to get consistently acceptable results.
I think the fact that there are multiple people who have deep understanding of what they are working on and of the system's structure goes a very long way to establish this trust and ensure quality.
In this environment, I think (as I said, the opinions are varying), having the contributor learn about their contribution (even asking AI as a starting point, if they want to) and then (re-)write it themselves is a really minimum gate to make sure everyone knows what is happening.
I think the best glimpse into the future is the bugginess and engineering laziness of Claude Code itself.
New versions ship daily and I seem to hit brand new issues every day. They disappear after a few more updates, but it's damn annoying to keep up instead of doing work, and the direction of changes is lacking at best. The underlying technology otherwise seems nothing short of a miracle, but the contrast is eye-opening.
In industries where this is acceptable, that's the future. In ones that can't tolerate it, it isn't. I hadn't expected software engineering itself to be one of the former but it's kinda obvious in retrospective.
I mean that’s not what Laffer curve says, the only thing it says that the revenue from taxes grows until some tax rate, above which the yield starts decreasing.
This says nothing about the wider economy nor about what the tax rate should be, and on its own it doesn’t seem too controversial to me.
I love the airport style, bilingual interface. One of my favourite parts of flying is getting to see different combinations of languages on the signs!
Oh I always do that! Send them my greetings.
The verdict was based on the Ofcom regulations, not the Parliament act though.
Whataboutism is in poor taste.
In my case, PWA installed via Safari work just fine.
I use UFW, and this config: github.com/chaifeng/ufw-docker
The only modification is that I pin containers to an IPv4 address so I can limit the forward rule to that address.
No, but you can when the bus is on the train in the tunnel.
At this point I think it's about creating new audience. I've been to a talk where a jlcpcb teached programmers how to build an NFC business card - most of these guys wouldn't know where to start with electronics but some of them are dabbling in them rn.
And Active Directory is probably the only still relevant one. Is it going to become Copilot Directory soon?
Ask to sign a separate one for providing services in the UK, or include terms that vary depending on where you are in the first place.
Depending on an analysis just like in the post.
There isn’t enough code and resources to <s>steal</s> learn from. And I mean not only the language but the paradigm.
Each EU country nominates one official language for the EU, otherwise we'd have Catalan, Breton, Kashubian and many more.
Well, Germany made an assumption that their „partner”, which already was starting wars, would at least keep them far enough from their home turf. It backfired spectacularly and we can blame German government for that.
Not much to disagree about generating energy at home though.
People behave as if AI were going to eat the software. I, and many others, don’t believe that is going to happen.
I thought you named it for Gdańsk (Danzig) and was wondering what’s got sniped there :)
I was automatically blocked by Google when I was a teenager, lost data that meant a lot to me… I even wrote a letter to the local Google office asking for help, to no response.
To no surprise, there’s no Google in my life since then, except when my work mandates it.
In 2002 diacritics were such a pain, or impossibility even :)
I thought it would be Pascal for microcontrollers :) Still very nice!

Next three days, you mean?
It’s saying that citizens are more trusted than non-citizens, obviously.
