Re:Mac at Any Scale on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @04:27PM (#50358430)
I really need to leverage my JetKVM’s. Now it’s too expensive to deploy AI machines with them. I could have my own personal AI utopia.
This is on my bucket list to finish. Watched one or two episodes and it reminded me of a dead serious Silicon Valley.
Re:Robert Redford Has Died on Tuesday September 16, 2025 @12:29PM (#45264428)
Sneakers is one of the main factors that got me into computing from Mathematics. Cryptography was new to the main stream when this movie came out. RSA was big time. Spy Games, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and especially Jeremiah Johnson all bad ass.

I think you have a lot of movie/book material. I would watch this play out.
Re:An animated introduction to Fourier series on Wednesday June 05, 2024 @11:08AM (#40585807)
I wish I had something like this when I was studying Mathematics. This is so well done.
Worked at Sprint back in the day and we (I) had to do this. Special certificates to produce a special OS build with the right privileges (carrier specific). The carriers and builders (Samsung etc) work together to get this in place. That on top of zero rating data being sent out for tracking allow the carrier (or builder) to do what they want.
Absolutely they can. Carriers have access to the system partition aka We do what we want (hopefully they do what makes sense). This is how bloatware is installed (the things you can't get ride of).
Re:Demystifying USB-C and Thunderbolt Docks (2017) on Tuesday December 07, 2021 @06:52PM (#29479719)
Literally just returned a Dell WD19TB. Supposedly it was certified to work with MacBook Pro and tested with a 16in 2020 Intel and 2021 MacBook Pro Max. Neither worked and dock would shutdown after only 5 minutes if I was lucky.

For Macs I would only use the suggested docs from Apple (CalDigit/OWC etc).

CalDigit Element hub is exceptional.

Good site and app. Been using this for years now and is my goto for extreme weather.
Re:Mapping Police Violence on Monday June 01, 2020 @05:18AM (#23376631)
A police force headed by a minority means nothing if the racism before that person joined is still there and he or she does not do anything to help change. It's like getting a Black president and saying racism and lynching was abolished by voting this person in office. The statistics show that the murders of unarmed people of color at the hands of police officers is disproportionately higher than that of the white people. And the is specifically true for back men. Out of every 100K black people 8 of the men of that population will die, unarmed, at the hands of the police force that happen to be white. These statistics enable the "seeing" process. Sources for the statistics are given in the article. You are free to calculate your own conclusions.
Re:Cats Cannot Taste Sweets (2007) on Thursday November 14, 2019 @01:09PM (#21537757)
Strange. My buddies cat loves sweets. Especially pecan pie. I'm not sure if she's just trying to bond with him by eating the same food at the same time or she has a sweet tooth.
Re:Ask HN: What chair do you use? on Thursday November 07, 2019 @12:22PM (#21475116)
Herman Miller Celle and SteelCase Leap (in storage). Just learned about the Celle and it's perfect. I recommend both if you have sciatica. You should be able to get both used and in really good condition.
This is nice.

Scott Galloway called it along time ago on L2inc (YouTube).
Re:I turned my interview task for Google into a startup on Thursday May 16, 2019 @02:45PM (#19931726)
Product looks good. I have been working on an app like this but haven't had the time to complete (only time for wire frames, research and other peoples stuff). It's good to see what should be.
Re:I turned my interview task for Google into a startup on Thursday May 16, 2019 @02:42PM (#19931682)
This is nice. I've been working on something like this for a while but never finished(only time to build mocks and gather research). Good to see what could be.
Re:AWS icon quiz on Monday August 06, 2018 @11:42AM (#17698599)
I got a solid 3. When using AWS I only look at the colors... Not the symbols.
Re:Visual Studio for Mac Preview on Wednesday November 16, 2016 @02:09PM (#12970297)
Can anyone guestimate how much this thing will actually cost?
Re:Qualcomm Firmware Vulnerabilities Expose 900M Devices on Monday August 08, 2016 @12:35PM (#12248999)
Can anyone verify this? I don't get the warm fuzzies from the original posted link.
