Re:Show HN: Koi.rest – watch some fish and regain your balance on Thursday September 24, 2026 @06:42PM (#49837765)
This is great! The sounds and visuals are a great way to recenter. Only UX thing I’d say, is it would be nice, and less distracting, if other “users/koi” popping in instead kind of faded in. Them suddenly appearing kind of pulls you out of the zen mode. Awesome idea!

I’ve been at a startup for 6 years, so I’m a bit more on the generalist side of things between software engineering and MLOps and ML engineering. I have a lot of experience managing and deploying models in production systems, both in the cloud and on-edge, and utilizing LLMs and agents in software.

I’d love to be able to work on a bit of a bigger team to collaborate with more people, and grow more in my career.

Re:How to Use Claude Code Subagents to Parallelize Development on Sunday September 14, 2025 @12:19AM (#45237422)
Ive been struggling to get frontend/backend aware claude code working in a way I like. So are you saying you plan it out with the parent one, and then have it output a file in some format that you then pass to the frontend and backend claude’s individually? but those “sub claudes” don’t actually have the other repo’s context?
Re:Living in a Lucid Dream on Wednesday July 03, 2024 @12:35PM (#40867607)
This is fascinating. I had a period where I was really trying to be able to lucid dream but never could. It’s interesting that this sounds so much like my normal dreams, but just adding that you do realize it’s a dream. I didn’t think it would be so similar.
Re:Show HN: Play Wordle vs. ChatGPT on Friday March 15, 2024 @11:46AM (#39717039)
I tied against it twice in a row, haha
I’m a big fan of ruff, so as soon as I saw this is from the same creators, my interest was piqued, I’ll definitely be checking this out and following along.
Were you able to tie it to a credit card? Last time I tried it only let me do a debit card, which was a bummer, since I prefer using credit.
Re:Show HN: Crunching 1,200 Authors' Favorite Reads of 2023 on Tuesday December 12, 2023 @11:12AM (#38614119)
Project Hail Mary is absolutely worth a read, it’s in my top books recently.
Re:Major Outage Across ChatGPT and API on Thursday November 09, 2023 @12:41AM (#38201586)
Does the plugin use the codebase code in the model itself for training, or does it stay locally? Just curious about the privacy.
I’ll definitely try this out, I’ve been wanting to work on a digital garden again
They’re saying he doesn’t have a neuralink
I can’t seem to pick a password that it’s happy with, but I’ll definitely check it out once I can
Re:Show HN: GPT4 – Full Playthrough of Pokemon Yellow on Friday March 17, 2023 @01:30AM (#35193525)
love it! that’s very impressive
are there any object detection models? we went with apple to use CoreML, which works great, but this is cool. Running the pytorch version of our model took way to long for inference.
Re:ErgodoxE EZ – an ergonomic keyboard with open source firmware on Thursday September 08, 2022 @10:24AM (#32765977)
So I’ve been into mechanical keyboards for about two and a half years now. Here’s how I would roughly rank layout changes I’ve tried

1. Split or unibody split 2. Moving to a smaller form factor (40% keyboard) so that my fingers don’t move nearly as far from the home row) 3. Ortholinear on a non-split board

I’ve tried ortholinear alone, ortho on split, and row staggered on split. I feel like split is the most improvement in comfort for me in general. But, on a split board I do prefer ortho, if that helps. On a non-split board, I’m not sure ortho has a huge effect for me, I use both regularly and don’t notice a big difference.

I honestly may even rank 40% boards as number one, because of how useful having numbers and symbols so close to or on the homerow is for comfort.

So anyway, those are my two cents from my experience

Re:How do you break into a career in machine learning? (2020) on Thursday August 04, 2022 @10:36AM (#32343476)
I’m still very early in my career, but I went straight from my bachelors to working in ML Engineering at a startup. I think it depends what type of ML job. If it’s heavy in research, I imagine a PhD would be much more important. We’re doing some research in terms of building some new models, but good portion of my job is on the infrastructure, pipelining, side of things.
Re:Life is not short on Monday June 27, 2022 @05:50PM (#31901322)
Just throwing out as a thought, but as an alternative you could spend a minute putting it for sale online where someone would come pick it up, or even just put it up for free so someone that may need it more can get it. It can be a very quick process, especially with smaller things like that. You might even be able to just throw it on the porch when they say they’re coming.
What sync method are you using in Obsidian. I’ve been using iCloud and i’ve had files dissapearing.. I love everything else about it though
Re:Ask HN: Which password manager do you use? on Friday June 24, 2022 @02:01AM (#31858271)
https://bitwarden.com/help/import-from-lastpass/ I’ve loved bitwarden. Looks like you could transfer pretty easily
Re:Ask HN: Which password manager do you use? on Friday June 24, 2022 @02:00AM (#31858264)
The few that I’ve tried allow you to export all of your passwords, and import from various formats. So most of the time you’d be able to export from one and import it directly onto another
Re:Effective Shell on Wednesday June 22, 2022 @01:01AM (#31832227)
have you found any ways to get past that experience trough? I definitely feel like i’m there now
This looks great, I’m going to check it out tomorrow at work!
Yeah but most websites don’t directly talk to each other. And email only covers some of what social media platforms have. It’s difficult to make and plan an event over email. But if I could make an event on a discord-like client, and my grandma can get updates on facebook, and so on, that would be an improvement from what we have now
Re:Down the mechanical keyboard rabbit hole on Friday March 18, 2022 @11:19AM (#30723394)
A lot of people are saying it’s not about performance and it’s more about feel. I need to jump in that the performance gain is a big deal for me. You can program a lot of these boards so any key does whatever you want. So I’ve customized mine to be very efficient for vim keybindings, for example, and it has improved my coding efficiency significantly. So I definitely get the downsides of spending hundreds on the “next best switch” or whatever, but for me there are concrete improvements to my efficiency.

Ask HN: What’s a productivity tip you can share?

I’m kind of obsessed with productivity/automation and just making frequent tasks easier and easier to manage. I’m a python ML dev, and I’m always looking for new ways to speed up my day to day tasks, from tmux and vim, to new python packages, to new IDEs and scripts. What productivity tips have you learned that could help someone out?
