Leaving Russia is difficult and takes a lot of money and connections. Most people don't have that or have other reasons not to. It's "smart" to stay quiet and not put yourself in danger but people like Moskalyov are compelled to at least say something.

It doesn't change the fact that there is already a war going on that is taking tens of thousands of lives. Coverage and awareness is important.

The dude is under several investigations, including a criminal one. I'm pretty certain one of them mandates the monitoring of his internet use.
Not that the info you provided is not disconcerting.

I liked this movie quite a bit. It didn't have as much charm as the first one and slightly less mystery, but it made up for it in comedy and cultural commentary. Really glad that this is a franchise now

Re:Ask HN: Why did the ruble stabilize and what's going on?
on Saturday April 23, 2022 @09:07AM (#31133916)
Those payments are not being made in roubles yet, most western countries have declined to make them directly. Instead Russia is offering them to open bank accounts in Russia where they could deposit euros or dollars, which then are converted into roubles.
The rouble is currently propped up by the dwindling currency reserves of the central bank and by the fact that you can't buy $/€/£ anywhere as a private citizen. The banks are out for the most part, the exchanges work with a giant commission and the supply of cash is just not there. You can exchange it virtually, but the rate is about 30% worse than the one advertised by the CB. This can't go on for much longer.

It's not a good argument. Both Russia and Ukraine are important wheat producers - without them the world may experience shortages, this is a direct result of the invasion and nothing to do with covid. Same goes for the current shipping crisis, it's caused directly by the economic effect of sanctions and the backlash felt on the supply chains. Maybe those problems were created by covid to some extent, but they were being ironed out already and some restrictions are being lifted right this moment. But the war exacerbated all of those problems.
