It would be incorrect to presume that.
> Are scientists in some nations outside the United States already trying to use artificial intelligence (AI) to design potentially deadly bioweapons? The AI company Anthropic raised that worrisome possibility with a report this week describing how it recently discovered five attempts at using its Claude software for pathogens research with the potential to cause harm.

Implying, they are allowing the same purpose within the United States, or such actions within the United States would be considered acceptable.

Re:Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @12:41PM (#49612781)
Actually you might be right, the number of issues for such a popular repo is extremely low.
Re:Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @02:47AM (#49606410)
103K stars, so clearly it's popular. Has anyone here used it, and what are the outcomes like, and importantly, who is the target audience for this?

I can see the intention behind crawling social media and news feeds to determine some 'evidence', but am not sure if that's the best approach or even if an LLM is the best way to get an assessment, or whether having so many input sources is a good idea.

Re:New Mac mini, featuring M6 and M5 Pro on Tuesday August 25, 2026 @02:23PM (#49438379)
Dear mods, please could these announcements be merged, if not done away with? They aren't really following the guidelines, they aren't 'curiosity', these are little more than marketing announcements.
Re:Google will pay SpaceX $920M per month for compute on Saturday June 06, 2026 @04:20PM (#48428616)
Everything will run on Elon's Costly Compute servers.
Auth0 and Slack appear degraded here, but not on their status pages
They must have solved coding that well.
Re:WSL 2 is getting faster Windows file system access on Friday June 05, 2026 @01:42AM (#48408423)
Nice to see a bit of good news here, WSL is an underrated component in enterprises, and quite often the only way you can get close to Linux. Windows and Macs feel like trading one cancer for another with different logos.
Re:You Don't Love Systemd Timers Enough on Tuesday June 02, 2026 @03:39PM (#48375173)
Thanks for sharing this, such a shame it's not been seen widely enough!
Clickbait title, I feel the article version was a better submission.
A good way to work through that is by not framing people as free riders in the first place.
Re:I love my Bluetooth keyboard on Monday May 25, 2026 @05:08AM (#48264872)
> I really wish there was an alt+tab replacement for window switching in iOS.

On Android it's a simple Alt+Tab to switch between apps; press it to bring up the current apps, then Alt+Tab lets you cycle through them too. In general Android is much more keyboard friendly.

Re:GitHub Is Sinking on Sunday May 10, 2026 @01:29PM (#48085941)
> GitHub hasn't changed in any positive way since the acquisition.

It's more like any positive actions they have had are being outright dismissed or forgotten. They removed several restrictions that Github had over private accounts, as well as github actions. Aside from the downtimes, the Github of today is fantastic compared to pre-acquisition Github.

Re:Are you just an .md file? on Monday May 04, 2026 @11:07AM (#48009671)
The navigation on the site needs work. Because the URLs don't change, it's not easy to go back to the list, except through a difficult to read link at the very bottom of the page. I'd expect a back button to work here instead of the hunting around.

Clicking one of the options performs some noop hollywoodism which could frankly be done without. If the results are cached just serve it right away?

The end results just seem to be jokey quips and a skills.md which attempts to describe what the company does. I'm not sure what the point of this is.

The toxic behaviour by hn commenters in that thread is absolutely shameful. Whether you feel strongly about it or not, there is a civil way to discuss things and that isn't it.
It is merged
> GPU passthrough via VFIO is a manual bring-your-own setup — not yet packaged.

Can we take this to mean that GPU passthrough is planned? This would be huge especially for running Adobe/Canva software.

Re:Phone is about to stop being yours on Tuesday April 28, 2026 @03:56PM (#47939766)

No, it markets lockin dressed up as privacy. Convincing you that they are the same thing is the real magic here.

Re:Agents Aren't Coworkers, Embed Them in Your Software on Saturday April 25, 2026 @11:32PM (#47907062)
> Humans are not a good target for calm technology.

Exactly the opposite is true. I couldn't even understand the point or relation being made here as the article continues to emit further disconnected revelations and factual errors. I would suggest a human calmly read through the post and sense check it.

If you already have a gaming pc, then it's worth exploring as the cost of boredom is negligible.
Re:Google Plans to Invest Up to $40B in Anthropic on Friday April 24, 2026 @05:22PM (#47895976)
Of course this is well known. Everything Microsoft does is for selfish capitalist reasons and everything Apple does is for altruistic philanthropic reasons.
Feasibility on commodity hardware would be the true watermark. Running high end computers is the only way to get decent results at the moment, but if we can run inference on CPUs, NPUs, and GPUs on everyday hardware, the moat should disappear.
Re:Nev – keyboard focused GUI and terminal text editor on Friday April 24, 2026 @03:07AM (#47886677)
Showing a rich interactive tui like this to 15 year old me would have me convinced I was in a fever dream. It's amazing how far they have come. Seeing debugging is kind of blowing my mind.
Re:Do you want the US to "win" AI? on Thursday April 23, 2026 @07:55AM (#47874672)
The contents of this post, in some parts, is somewhat alien to me. The need to pick a side, root for someone, and figure out a winner. It's very sports team like and detracts from the goals, effects and outcomes of the topic itself. It is entirely possible that there are no good and bad sides, nor is there any need for someone to win any kind of made up trophy.
Re:Tim Cook's Impeccable Timing on Tuesday April 21, 2026 @05:21PM (#47854638)

This must be a hallucination because it's still a wasteland here.
