Logic Studio. There is Cubase on Windows that comes close in functionality but is nowhere as intuitive and easy to use.

I'm in the same position as you, looking for a good linux laptop. Haven't found one yet.

I had a chance to play with Thinkpad t410 and x201 and I have to say they weren't as good as I expected. There was very strange whining noise emitting from the cpu area and displays were just awful. I heard that the noise problem persists with newer Core i3/i5/i7 Thinkpads.

I don't understand why he didn't take proper console screenshots.

IIRC mplayer is capable of taking snapshots of console. fbgrab can do this, too.

You should also take a look at sources of paulgraham.com, norvig.com and tlb.org. They all use horrible markup and tables for layout.

The fact that they don't care what their html code looks like should tell us something.
