Do you interact more frequently with Slack or Discord communities?

I'm looking to create an online community for startuppers and I've seen that: - Circle is cool but a few people remind to open it - Fb groups are almost dead since much younger people don't use it - Slack is often used for work - Discord is often used for web3 communities or similar. And you? What do you use more frequently (job workspaces excluded)

Ask HN: How does the secondary equity market work?

I invested in some startups through an equity crowdfunding platform. For some of them I'm happy of the investments while for others I'd prefer to liquidate my equities (even at slight loss) because I'm no longer interested in the project or believing in it.I've seen that they offer a secondary equity market where you can find buyers and sell your equities. How does it work? Are there any fees...

Exiting equities before a liquidity event

I invested in some startups through an equity crowdfunding platform. For some of them I'm happy of the investments while for others I'd prefer to liquidate my equities (even at slight loss) because I'm no longer interested in the project or believing in it.Are there any (low or no fees) ways to find a buyer and sell my equities?

It's time for an inequality index for cryptocurrencies distribution

It is quite famous that 95% of Bitcoin is owned by 2% of accounts. This concentration not only risks to threaten blockchain's own premises, but also exposes minor investors to risk of whales who lead the market and can easily speculate on prices since they can influence the price trends. Is there any crypto inequality index? I thought that Gini index could work too!I would like to find an...

We also hope that this "deal will encourage more founders of any age and from every demographic group and geographic location to take the leap into the startup world."

Guys, after reading the first lines of the blogpost I seriously thought for the first time I could take the leap

Ask HN: Igniting cool conversations from incoming LinkedIn connection requests

I often receive Linkedin connection requests from interesting people I don't know.I use to send a welcome message, but I've seen it doesn't work (almost no cool conversation starts). My current message sounds like "glad to connect, how can I help you?"Any idea on how to make it better?I've searched online and found a bunch of "how to spam connection requests without sound spammy" but it's not...

ASK HN: What is your 'partnerships funnel'?

I'm exploring partnerships between startups as a win-win way to grow. Currently, we don't have a partnership manager, so I'm trying to move something.I mainly look for co-marketing partnerships cause it's the only collaboration I could imagine for the moment since we're not integrable (so, I'm trying to bundle or cross-sell or pixel swap with other products thought for similar targets,...

Ask HN: How do B2B startups exit the early adopter trap?

Explaining the trap:1- Startups need early adopters to create a product that really solves problems2- Companies usually are not early adopters (eg there's no Kickstarter for B2Bs) since they have to run a business and cannot use incomplete tools3- B2B startups can find early adopters only when their product is good enough, which basically requires capital injections until then4- Point 3 is...

So, how do B2B startups find their early adopters? Only through capital injections until they've a good enough product?
And what if it's a place for beta products looking for early adopters?

Ask HN: Did you manage to recreate remote coffees?

After the COVID-19 outbreak, in my company we managed to do everything remotely. After the initial trouble, we did remotely all the things that looked impossible to do outside the office: 1-1s, meetings, workshops.Only one exception: the coffee break. The occasional chit chat which happened in the coffee area has not been substituted from any call, even the most informal one. In fact you don't...

It looks like social networks are more like a drug, so reducing the dose could help
Re:Show HN: I built a 1 on 1 question generator on Thursday January 21, 2021 @03:53AM (#25856875)
It could be cool to add some sort of social features like being able to pose in-app questions to coworkers async

Do you plan a share button to be shared with a coworker?
Re:Show HN: Wikipedia Trends on Monday January 18, 2021 @04:32AM (#25819944)
Interesting! Is there a way to group for period (eg top trending this week/this month/this year etc)?
Cool idea! Is the size limit the 2GB by Chrome/other browsers?
Re:Show HN: Climate Change App on Wednesday January 13, 2021 @03:43AM (#25759663)
In Italy we have an interesting app that is kind of a green social network: people are told some actions they could do, and then you can share proof of your actions with the community and get points. You can then use those points as discounts for green shops. Take a look, it's called GreenApes
