Can you say more about the plastic left behind? Polyurethane coating on the cannula?
Not diabetic myself but managing my little kids T1. If we could go from one poke every 10 days to 0 pokes, I am all in. Skeptical of the accuracy as well though especially for someone who is too young to fully participate and not fully hypoglycemic aware.
I understand the entire comment and it literally could not be about anything other than managing diabetes.
My 4 year old and I just finished Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He sometimes got a little nervous when the other kids disappeared, but he loved the story. Charlies virtue was so obvious to him. We just brought home a stack of more Roald Dahl from the library.
I used to be a wildland firefighter for the USFS and was stationed on a forest where two districts were split in half by a reservation where the land was managed by the BIA.
Driving from one district to the other you could see the health of the forest change almost immediately when you crossed a border.
BIA land had lots of healthy and appropriately spaced trees, wildlife, tall grasses. USFS land had dead grass and trees packed together, 10 snags for every healthy one.
Amazing. Stuff like this is why I come to HN.

I'm a data engineer but I have experience in software engineering and data science. I'm looking for roles where I can put my overlapping skills to good use.
I currently work at a start up where I build streaming ETL pipelines for data from IoT devices. I also help develop the firmware as well as the signal processing techniques used to make the data more useful. I was the first engineer to join, so I also have experience with leading, mentoring, etc.
I'm mostly interested in a W2 position but I am open to consulting as needed as well.
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve actually done this as well with impressive results. I started to become wary of hallucinations about more obscure topics, but I agree it’s very valuable.
You’re right though I’m looking for something more. I guess I’m looking for a macro-theological “church” and I’m not sure if that exists.

I have a lot of books but I’m looking for a podcast, discord server or anything else that has a community interested in critical discussions about world religions, spirituality, theological philosophy, metaphysics…things like this. Ideally something not limited to a particular subdomain but a survey of the entire domain.
I was 29 when I got my first job writing code. Before that I was a wildland firefighter and then a carpenter. I taught myself to code at night over the course of 2 years. Got an MS in Data Science a few years after that. Now I’m doing software engineering, data engineering, and data science in a domain I’m super interested in. So it worked out really well. I’m pretty much right where I wanted to be when I wrote my first line of JavaScript at 27. My advice is to totally immerse yourself as much as possible in whatever field you’re trying to get into and start to think of yourself as someone who is already a part of that community.
This is driven by drug overdoses of working age people.
In the next Austin Powers movie, Dr Evil will try to accumulate so much mass in one place that earth flies off its orbit.

Yea I was hoping to get recommendations with a 'human who reads Hacker News' filter.
Book recommendations on this topic? International internet infrastructure in general, not China/US relations.

That does not mean it's beneficial.
I made a page on my personal website that shows unread bookmarks. I can add bookmarks by text message or bookmarklet in a browser. Check a box once I've read it to remove it from the list.
I agree with the sentiment but imo software 'engineer' isn't wrong. It is in the sense that it's obviously unrelated to motors/engines but the word comes from the Latin ingeniator; to contrive or devise.
Hard to see this becoming law though. They must have influence in DC by now.
$440k for 2 jobs and a 3-month contract so $195k/job. For a front end dev w/ 2 yoe?
Article doesn’t mention the influence of Harry Reid who worked to maintain the monopoly of Las Vegas.
