Just one more lever pull, I know it will pay off! /s

It's still ok to enjoy programming at work.
"As compensation for leaking your personal data, best I can do is...one year of Equifax monitoring."
I we are lucky, Nathan will make one on Altman and Amodei in 10 years.
Re:More on Anthropic's Scion ripping off Mononoke on Thursday October 15, 2026 @04:18PM (#50109657)
Yes, dishonesty. Flaunting this great technical achievement of their Mighty Labor Arbitrage Machine when it would have been impossible for them to have done without Mononoke already being open source.
Re:Anthropic's Scion is heavily inspired by Mononoke on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @06:27PM (#50096358)
Anthropic effectively doing a "git clone" with extra steps here. Uncharitable? I don't think so. If this were about functionality, why not use Sapling/Mononoke or extend it and contribute back to the open source community? Because that doesn't juice the IPO valuation.

Re:Supabase Is Acquiring Turso on Friday October 02, 2026 @03:08PM (#49937291)
I has happened, but supabase has a history of keeping things open source and Turso keeping its sqlite-focused mission is the plan.

Or maybe those engineers are just not motivated by the same things you are. Or maybe they know something you don't - that deskilling is real and if you keep pulling the magic slot machine lever, eventually you won't be able to tell when it's lying to you. And oh does it. Maybe you just never had those skills in the first place.

I think there is some hazard in assuming a seemingly exponential curve has no asymptotes, otherwise known as faith.

You are getting stronger. I very much doubt you are getting better at code.
It must burn a little blogging about an LLM-driven latency analysis _internal demo_ only to have Datadog launch a product in the same space a day later. https://www.datadoghq.com/blog/bits-ai-sre/
http://hoplon.io/ is a lot closer to the Hickey/Norvig/Anderson paper.
Re:Clojure is not Software Conservative on Friday August 10, 2012 @07:10PM (#4368766)
"A correlation between people who use a language and the previous languages they have used does not imply a correlation (or intellectual/philosophical inheritance) between the language under discussion and the previous languages used."

And yet, that is exactly the basis for Yegge's point: attributing a philosophical label based on a perceived (and incorrect) background for a group. Goose, gander. Kettle, pot.
