I'm in love with mine.
• Hardware is good enough and that's perfectly fine
• It's repairable and can be easily opened
• Software is open which is increasingly rare there days
• Ability to play on TV, on couch (with headphones) and on monitor with keyboard/mouse is awesome
• Being able to play old games is great (I finally finished Assasin's Creed 2)
• It's still a PC where I can switch to Linux Desktop and tinker with stuff
• Battery life isn't the best but I almost always have power source near me
• Valve did awesome job with handling controls in games with Community layouts etc
• I finally found sense in USB-C where I switch between Deck and Macbook with a single cable
• Hacker community is vibrant
• It's an emulation heaven :)
I'm using Github to publish my code and seriously I don't care whenever Copilot was trained using it. I published it and in the end somebody can do anything with it without giving a damn about license, copyright etc - that's the truth of open-source.
I've started using React.js in 2014 and I'm still using it today. That's probably quite a lot of minutes TBH.
Month ago I've started another project - again React + Redux. I don't think React.js will disappear from the scene anytime soon.

With big money comes big responsibility. Storing $16M should be taken very seriously and probably most people have no clue about that.
I wonder - has Google became with "no-privacy" by default ?
Optical zoom and thin form factor doesn't work together too well.
Year after year of new iPhone's premieres I wonder for how long I'm going to use my iPhone SE - 3,5years has gone and nothing new for me on the horizon :(
I don't care about missing jack, USB-C, cameras and other things - just make it smaller and it will fine by me.
The quality of DigitalOcean communications in this case - especially email responses look like worst examples from some pretty terrible corporations. I thought DO was (is?) trying to differ from them.
What are viable web-based alternatives to Skype ? (Except for Hangouts)

I'm fairly successful remote software developer working in the industry for 15 yrs. I've recently realized that I'm doing one or the other thing over and over again without any deeper meaning. I deliver what am I asked to, keep up with new technologies, improve quality of my work. But I find those things a bit soulless. I live in outsourcing country so projects and startups come and go. But I'd...
Few days ago I've bought previous generation Retina 15,4 with funny faces from sellers at my local Apple store :)
Great keyboard, dependable battery, Magsafe, ESC and other goodies :)
And I couldn't be happier - no crappy keyboard, no donglemagendon and other crap :)
I can assure you - you're not the only one who hates Network Panel.
Migrate to Switzerland :) Salaries there are much higher than rest of the Europe but living there is more expensive too.
Hopefully - and thank God :)
Holy moly O_o.
Those kind of stories are keeping me back from buying any Android devices in nearest future. Somebody might say that I can flash it with clean Android ROM but that's great for people who have too much time :-)
In terms of opening speed at least - it still crushed both VSCode & Atom.
You should try also Youtube-dl - amazing piece of kit :)
Search for "Kip Mazuy" on Youtube :-)
Are there any plans to support Vim/Neovim ?
New header fits to the whole design like there was some kind of mouring going on :/
For me that's one of a reasons that as full-time Ruby/RoR developer I've started learning (& loving) Python. Some time ago I've started to realize that too much is happening under-the-hood in many of the libraries I'm using and somewhat in my applications. After few months Python is much more verbose and readable for me and I don't have dilemma whenever I should I implement certain thing this or that way.
Great and very inspiring story. Made my Saturday 200% better - seriously :)
It has been probably posted sometime before but I think this is still very up to date and HN newcomers and veterans (and everobody else) should read this again and put into action.
