I am the author of lighthouse-mcp. Plugging in a11y-mcp
https://github.com/priyankark/a11y-mcp specifically for a11y and there are a few other variants of it from other authors as well.
I use these tools myself and they just build upon the awesome work from the open source community
As someone who has been to Sikkim and spoken with people there, I can say they are proud and happy to be Indians. In fact, they receive several concessions from the Indian state for being part of the Union - for example, they are exempt from income tax. While a referendum may not always be the best measure of sentiment, the absence of insurgency in Sikkim (unlike in some other regions in India) suggests that people are broadly content with being part of India.

Back in college, I really enjoyed reading The Manga Guide to Calculus and other books in that series. Inspired by that, I recently added a feature to my app AISheets.study
that lets you turn any material into a manga-styled study guide using AI. It also supports other styles like xkcd and traditional colored comic styles. The link I shared is an example I generated from Paul Graham’s essay on...

Hi HN,I built AISheets after getting fed up with reading chapters, closing the book, and realizing almost nothing stuck. I learn best when I’m quizzing myself along the way, but every app I tried was either clunky or missing basic features for technical subjects (such as rendering equations etc) or just too expensive.AISheets lets you drop in a PDF and instantly get quick recaps, mind-maps,...
the age of swearing allegiance to a particular IDE/AI tool is over. I keep switching between Cursor and GH Copilot and for the most part they are very similar offerings. Then there's v0, Claude (for its Artifacts feature) and Cline which I use quite regularly for different requirements.
I agree with what you have said. It's what you mentioned at the end about people judging based on metrics - it should be up to people to judge for themselves, not the platform! The platform should present data, not try to sway opinions. Besides the message itself is so hand wavy if I am using the phrase correctly, what is Google trying to convey through the message? If something is a legit scam, they should either not be publishing such apps or be testing and removing them.
I am increasingly convinced they are trying to direct traffic to apps that use their Ads network under the guise of such vaguely-about-security messages.
Thanks for sharing. Another interesting part is how similar the word "dúvida" is to Hindi's word for "doubt": "Duvidha" which itself is derived from Sanskrit!
I am obviously a very small player doing things as a hobby, I don't matter to Google. But what I am pointing out is that they already take a cut of whatever few dollars I earn (beyond the initial $25 I paid years ago just to get on the play store). If you see the thread, the OP asked their customer support and they said:
"Especially, since the response from customer service seems to suggest that the best way to get it removed is to run Google AdWords (which I am already running, btw)"
If the angle here is running ads and if they are already taking a cut, why are they doing this? If the angle is security, why not test the apps and have them removed! And in either case, why keep the developer in the dark? And why is there no way for small time insignificant devs like me to know how to get rid of the banner!
exactly. Imagine the audacity of this company. I have a paid app and they are already charging me a percentage of the revenue. And behind my back they have begun running this banner.
I noticed this banner on one of my own apps while installing it for my mom on a new phone. The banner said "This app has fewer users than others...", almost as if they are discouraging users from installing it without even informing me. I looked it up online and it seems like many people have begun seeing this. I am linking a thread. If anyone from Google is reading this, such opaque policies are not appreciated!

This should be applicable across the world, not just US.
exactly, it stands for "I have a question" :) It stems from the school/coaching system where you are encouraged to ask questions as you figure out say a problem set in dedicated "doubt clearing" sessions with your teachers/instructors. That carries over to the workplace where you are more likely to hear this phrase when someone has a question in a technical discussion or similar, from my observations.
As an Indian, I am sad that the world will lose out on short to-the-point words/phrases such as "please do the needful", "i have a doubt", "prepone" and many others :( We are like this only.
I love this series. I read them in college, including the Manga guide to calculus among others.

Whipped up this quick MCP server (using Cline) for performing web accessibility audits. You can use the results in an agentic loop to provide context to AI assistants to help them solve a11y issues, helping make the web a more inclusive place for all.As always, pull requests accepted to make things even better!

Allows AI assistants such as Cursor/Cline/GitHub Copilot to use Google's lighthouse tool to measure perf metrics for your webpage. You can then run an agentic loop and get the assistants to optimize those metrics! This was made using Cline. Pull requests accepted to make things better!

Hi HN,I wanted to share an early version of something I am working on.PhonePi MCP is an open source MCP server + companion Android app (iOS coming soon) that lets you connect your phone to AI assistants/apps running on your Desktop PC/Mac (such as Cursor, Claude Desktop or any other client that implements MCP!) and automate tasks such as:- send SMSs, place phone calls via your AI assistant

Hi HN!A while back (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41749567), I had shared my hobby project AirCodum (formerly CodeAir) which lets you pair your phone with VS Code and do things like command over it from your phone, share files & images from your phone into your VS Code workspace and more! You could also request screenshots to know what’s happening on your screen, which is useful in...
Just in case someone finds this - I had to rename and move the project to aircodum.com as an entity called 'codeair.in' tried to harass me, claiming they had a TradeMark (they really didnot) and I wanted to avoid drama.
I open sourced the extension code.
Thank you, this is a TIL!!
thank you! I'll release the code for the VSC Extension soon.
Thank you so much for pointing these out! Yes, it's react native. And thanks to your comment, I am also working on getting my account setup on open vsx
sorry if my answer came off the wrong way, I just meant, yes I'll be releasing the source code for the VS Code extension.
I love HN for these moments - when you learn things that are orthogonal to the original post.
Thank you for checking on things, I am working on open sourcing the extension part of the project which should be available soon!
Thank you, I am working on it!
Thanks purple-leafy, I do share some similar concerns. There was only a recent case where a popular open source project was cloned and turned into a startup.
I am offering the Android app and extension for free. I'll be open sourcing the extension soon. I am hesitant to open source the Android app until I also get the iOS version out.
I am curious to hear more. Everything happens over local network, so unless the network is compromised, it shouldn't cause too much trouble? I am advising users against using this over something like airport wifi or something.
