Hi - we have a consumer financial app on both the appstore and chrome store - how do we get in touch about potentially using your api?
Re:Soviet College Admission — My Dad's Story (1970) on Thursday March 07, 2013 @06:52PM (#5341213)
its more than that. I remember being bullied and called little jew by kids, by teachers, by school principal, by janitors, by strangers on the subway when I was 7 or 8 because I have soft Rs and curly hair, and I am not Jewish.
Re:JDateTime - Iranian (Shamsi) Date for PHP on Saturday February 23, 2013 @06:20PM (#5271918)
don't know much about how Iranian dates work so I peeked inside the code to see the actual conversion.

Line 482 - $g_days_in_month = array(31, 28, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31, 31, 30, 31, 30, 31);

Umm, what about leap years, you know the ones that have 29 days in February?

Re:The Nexus 4 is a dud on Saturday December 01, 2012 @11:53AM (#4858186)
If he is so unhappy he should sell it on ebay, they go more than double the asking price at the moment.

I am absolutely happy with mine, simply blown away not just by the quality of the phone (its outstanding) but by how nice the stock android really is. No more bloatware and "enhanced" UI for me

Re:Google Nexus 4 Review on Tuesday November 13, 2012 @10:58AM (#4778617)
I have a Samsung Galaxy 1 at the moment and after 2 and 1/2 years of poking usb thingy into the receiving port it came undone. Not completely, but it takes a fair amount of jiggling and negotiations to get the juice flowing.

Wireless charging makes a lot of sense, I am going to buy one as soon as it becomes available

Re:Google Nexus 4: Nearly flawless on Friday November 02, 2012 @01:52PM (#4733868)
In my case lack of LTE is not a big concern, I am more concerned with lack of SD slot for example, or battery not being user serviceable.

LTE or not LTE, everywhere I need to I have a Wi-Fi readily available and Nexus 4 supports phone function over the wi-fi as well, so lack of it is not really important

I am also looking at possibly getting Galaxy S3, it is priced at $50 on black friday but I will have to sign another 2 year contract with Sprint and endure another bout of Sprint useless bloatware being installed by night, endless attempts to charge me for something very basic like voice mail transcribtion, etc.

Re:Zynga stock plummets below value of its cash and real estate on Wednesday October 10, 2012 @11:15PM (#4639194)
been there done that. Had stock options not from one, not two, but three startups in dot coms. Worked 60 hrs week - to the bone. Came through with nothing, actually lost money because in one of the startup I had to buy out my options and it came with a large tax bill for some reason
Re:Google Launches Credit Cards for Small Businesses on Monday October 08, 2012 @09:06PM (#4629453)
this. who do I call when I have issue with Google overcharges or whatever? last time we had these issue we were told, quote "we (google) are an internet company and as such we don't have customer service".
Re:What Happens to Stolen Bicycles? on Tuesday August 28, 2012 @02:44PM (#4445200)
That's not true. I bought a brand new Schwinn at Walmart for $140 after taxes. Its not a very good bike but its good for what I bought it for, i.e. trips to coffee shop without worrying for it to be stolen. My other bike is a $2.5k Specialized Tarmac which I don't use casually
this. I love florida and usually spend a month or two in the winter there. I am not impressed with the people, coming back to boston is a breath of a fresh air. I can move my startup there full time but I don't primarily because of how out of place I feel most of the time (and its too darn hot in the summer)

Awesome. Is this still in flash or html5?
Re:Stay away from This* (thiswebhost.com) on Tuesday August 16, 2011 @12:51PM (#2891886)
Not only redditors cause problems, -- we refused to sell to anyone with aol.com account for a year or so because the never ending support nightmare that was originating from these customers. It wasn't worth it. We also raised prices (twice) to change demographics, I still get couple of emails a day asking for coupons. disgusting.
Re:AeroFS - File Sync Without Servers on Friday August 12, 2011 @09:41AM (#2877177)
love it, love it, love it. Please don't go out of business :) Related to going out of business - I'd like to start paying something monthly to support, please add that option
as someone who ran a restaurant a night club -- everything above is correct.

Take a look at the latest JS development tools, jQuery/ExtJS/backbone. It is the future of the UI development

very similar to charlie4real - cancelled my airbnb listing and keeping vrbo.com - basically same reasosn, site heavily skewed towards renters, no control over money, wrong kind of renters (short term, always asking for discounts, etc) They do have a market niche, just not applicable for my situation (renting vacation home 8 month out of 12)
I emailed them for the terms, will see how it develops
Re:Amazon Launches "Mac Downloads" Store on Thursday May 26, 2011 @04:12PM (#2589243)
Anyone knows on what are the reqs for publishing into this store?
russian army is not formidable military organizations and hasn't been since 1970s, may be earlier. the only thing formidable is the level of corruption. There was an article few days ago that they feed dog food to their conscripts. The only thing that keeps them being taken seriously is the nuclear threat, which they parade (literally) every single opportunity they get

JavaScript development environment?

What do folks use for JavaScript dev environment?I am trying to setup new extjs based system and so far I like everything I see, except I can't figure out how to properly develop the thing. I am very much Eclipse person (last 8+ years) and while I am willing to move away from Eclipse I would like to have things like refactoring, type browsing, class hierarchies and integrated debugging.Do this...

72 slides? I gave up after slide 40 something I think. Too long, doesn't have anything interesting really
Don't mean to hijack the thread but ulcers have nothing to do with how hard you study or how stressfull your life is; it is a misconception that really needs to be put to rest.

Most ulcers are caused by h. pylori infection (and sometimes by over-medication in childrens cases).

Your friend most likely ate unshashed fruits/vegetables overseas, or had access to someone who did

Re:How a handful of geeks defied the USSR on Tuesday March 15, 2011 @12:00AM (#2325842)
I ran one of the Relcom nodes at the time. It was a major pain to setup but once we got going the service was very reliable. Our setup wasn't UNIX based though, it was a home grown UUCP peer-to-peer client running on DOS, I think it was called UUPC if I am not mistaken.
Re:Money Won’t Buy You Health Insurance on Monday February 21, 2011 @06:58PM (#2247908)
+1 on mass health care, very reasonable rates and abundance of good options. I was very much against it and actually voted no but came to see the benefits and changed my opinion
Re:Merchant Banking Sucks on Monday February 21, 2011 @09:52AM (#2245571)
+1 , I also stopped by a local bank, talked to the person in charge and had the whole thing setup in few days. They actually gave me choice of different gateways as well, I went with authorize.net per recommendation
Re:Dropbox replacement? on Monday December 13, 2010 @09:50PM (#2002916)
Requirements are quite simple: sync up a shared folder between 3 macs, 1 pc and 2 laptops. OS are: Windows XP, Vista and MacOS. Data doesn't need to be on the cloud, but the sync needs to work reliably (dropbox messed up few of the syncs in a bad way and I had to get the backups out)

Data growth is quite slow, may be ~2 Gb/week

I don't have a full time IT person, so I should be able to manage things without going into system administration, rsync scares me

I want to pay may be < $.20/Gb, dropbox is expensive at $.50/gig on their highest capacity plan.

From what I can see AeroFS would fit the bill very nicely, but they seem to be not really available at this point

Another option I am looking at right now is Microsoft Live Mesh, which has an app for a Mac. I don't have ideological reasons not to try them, so I am installing it on one of the macs to see if it works or no

Re:Dropbox replacement? on Monday December 13, 2010 @05:46PM (#2002279)
Hi Yuri, I did sign up for an invite. Can you please tell me whats the major reason(s) I would want to go with you not with JungleDisk which seems to be doing similar things. Is it price/value differentiation only or there is more to the story?

Dropbox replacement?

I ran out of 50Gb limit on dropbox and am not sure I want to go to the next level (100Gb), it is a) too expensive and b) I will overgrow it in 6 month or so c) data doesn't really need to be in the cloud but it needs to be synced up between few computers. Is there an alternative to dropbox? I don't mind paying but something more reasonable than dropbox rates
