> Switch to EV

Most people can't afford one

> -Migrate from gas appliances (range, furnace, water heater) to electric (induction, heat pumps)

Electricity is considerably more expensive, people that leave paycheck to paycheck would not be able to afford it

Here are somethings YOU can do personally to help:

- Never fly in an airplane again

- Never use ANY vehicle again, walk everywhere(yes EVs also pollute)

- In the winter, don't turn on the heat.

- Eat only vegetables and things you don't need to cook

- etc

If you are not doing ALL OF THESE you have no right on telling other people how they produce their CO2.

Re:Europe's $24T Breakup with Visa and Mastercard Has Begun on Wednesday February 11, 2026 @09:45AM (#46975568)
You just described fiat.

Terrible store of value(worse than bitcoin) Horrible International transaction fees(swift much worse than bitcoin) Most money laundering and criminal activities happen in the current banking system.

By your definition Musk is not far right.

> Avoiding the deeply unethical grifting and corruption the Trump administration has normalized.

Care to give examples of these?

Learn to control procrastination.
Why not use Grin? Or Monero? Why would using Bitcoin Cash be better than Bitcoin?

Thank you for this awesome project.

Question, why Ferdinand III does not appear under people during 1200s on the Hispanic area?

He is arguably the most important historical figure during that time period:

- Unified Castille and Leon

- Lead the reconquest that resulted in what is Spain today.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_III_of_Castile

EDIT:

He was the literally the directly responsible of the map changes during that era

> "It's very rare to really see a policy like the minimum wage lead to restaurants exiting the market unless they were already marginally on the edge of making it or not making it"

This seems like a gift to big corporations.

The big guy can take the hit from the raise.

It's the small guy who is affected the most.

You should try GrapheneOS

It is basically Android with all the crap from Google removed.

Because it is very intersting knowledge?
> You really think Musk himself designed the rockets, robots and brain chips?

You really think any of that would have been possible without him? What EV company is as successful as Tesla? How many rockets does the second most successful company launch every year?

You think companies as successful as SpaceX, Tesla or Neuralink would have been possible without Musk?
Counterpoint: It was 100% necessary. Telling the truth always is.
"After Boeing declines to pay up, ransomware group releases DEFCON 3 leak"

Could be the alternative headline.

This would be so easy with the Lightning Network. In general payments are just better. No need to input your personal info No need to give away you CC

Just scan a QR code and you are good to go.

Re:Web3 is not going to change the world on Thursday February 03, 2022 @09:19AM (#30192700)
Even bitcoin on-chain no longer has those high fees it had in 2017.

Also, Bitcoin has lightning now. A second layer protocol that allows fast and cheap payments. Like less of a penny cheap.

Re:Myths about Social Media on Tuesday January 18, 2022 @10:22PM (#29989564)
This.

I did an experiment to make the algorithm think I'm left wing on alternate accounts.

Not to much time passed before my feed was filled with the most hideous and stupid things some "right wing" people did.

It is the same on my primary accounts but the other way around.

No wonder we hate each other.

Re:Mozilla Foundation pausing cryptocurrency donations on Thursday January 06, 2022 @03:48PM (#29829914)
Bitpay stagnated because it is a known bad service.

You also have the rise of BTCPay Server and lightning.

Anecdata alert: My wife got covid last year.

She was ok until the moment tests confirmed it was covid. She developed shortness of breath and other symptoms.

All of those disappeared after reading to her the probabilities of hosp. and dying in her age/condition range.

Re:How to end the American obsession with driving on Tuesday September 14, 2021 @11:26AM (#28526272)
..begins with an unscientific sentence:

"This summer’s series of extreme wildfires, hurricanes, and tropical storms have made it more apparent than ever that the effects of climate change are here."

Re:Bitcoin’s Energy Usage Isn’t a Problem on Saturday September 04, 2021 @09:25PM (#28420927)
I use it every month. I work remotely for an overseas company. I live in a third world country.

Bitcoin is money, like it or not.

Re:Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment on Tuesday July 27, 2021 @11:22AM (#27973522)
Of the amount of goods and services you can buy with it.

Fiat is just a convenient unit of account, that serves the purpose of contrast.

I was not responding to the Keynes quote, I was responding to this:

> 40 years ago, the following was a fact: "There is a country in Europe named Yugoslavia".

It is clearly not true anymore.

So, existence proof that facts can change.

> but USD has proven to be a far less volatile store of value than Bitcoin

If by less volatile you mean gradually losing value, I mean yeah.. But is that a better store of value?

> such a thing would be possible in the crypto space as well.

Nope, that is literally impossible with Bitcoin. Hitler could open up a shop, and no one could stop him from receiving payments.

Re:Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment on Tuesday July 27, 2021 @02:01AM (#27969126)
I think they are just used to compliance.
Re:Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment on Monday July 26, 2021 @11:32PM (#27968320)
It baffles me the amount of blind fanatical hate Bitcoin gets in HN.

It shouldn't though, as most of them live in first world countries and have never experienced the calamities of hyper inflation and wealth seizure by the government.

Re:Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment on Monday July 26, 2021 @11:23PM (#27968275)
Centralized. Manipulated. Unpredictable issuance. Subject to censorship.

Among a few.

Re:Amazon denies report of accepting Bitcoin as payment on Monday July 26, 2021 @11:21PM (#27968264)
Nope, the problem with Diem is it's creators do not seem to understand Bitcoins appeal: permissionless transfer of value.
